2018 NFL Draft: Friday Night Mock (2nd/3rd Rounds)

Second Round

33. CLEVELAND BROWNS
Harold Landry-EDGE-Boston College
6-2/262/4.64/6.88-3 cone
NFL Comparison: Melvin Ingram/Jerry Hughes

After taking Baker Mayfield and Denzel Ward in the first round, the Browns continue their trend of taking ultra productive but undersized prospects. Harold Landry is a top 20 talent that has slipped due to size concerns. He is an ideal rusher to play opposite Myles Garrett.

34. NEW YORK GIANTS
James Daniels-C-Iowa
6-4/305
NFL Comparison: Rodney Hudson/Maurkice Pouncey

The O-Line in New York still needs a lot of help. Daniels can help pave holes for his former Big Ten rival Saquon Barkley. Daniels is the best interior offensive lineman on the board

35. CLEVELAND BROWNS
Connor Williams-OT-Texas
6-5/296.26 reps/34 vert
NFL Comparison: Bryant McKinnie/Phil Loadholt

The Browns need to find a LT to replace legend Joe Thomas after he retired this off season. Williams provides great value in the second round.

36. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Derrius Guice-RB-LSU
5-10/224/4.49
NFL Comparison: Jospeh Addai/Frank Gore

The Colts get the feature RB they should of drafted last year (I had them taking Alvin Kamara). I still can't believe that Sony Michel and Rashad Penny were taken ahead of Guice.

37. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Sam Hubbard-LDE/DEGE-Ohio ST
6-5/265/6.84-3 cone
NFL Comparison: Paul Kruger/Mike Vrabel

The Colts were 31st in the league in sacks. Hubbard is a perfect fit as a DE in the Colts new 4-3 defense.

38. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Justin Reid-S-Stanford
6-0/207/4.4/36.5 vert
NFL Comparison: Malcolm Jenkins/LaRon Landry

Tampa passed on both Minkah Fitzpatrick and Derwin James on Thursday night. They take Reid here to boost arguably the worst secondary in the NFL.

39. CHICAGO BEARS
Josh Jackson-CB-Iowa
6-1/196/4.59
NFL Comparison: Chris Gamble/Josh Norman

The value is too good for Jackson. He should of went in the first but my guess is that he doesn't last every long on Friday night. The Bears get a steal here to play opposite Kyle Fuller.

40. DENVER BRONCOS
Isaiah Oliver-CB-Colorado
6-1/201/4.5
NFL Comparison: Darius Slay/TJ Carrie

The Broncos will be thrilled if they can get the local corner from Colorado. Oliver is long and will help replace the void left by Aqib Talib.

41. OAKLAND RAIDERS
Jesse Bates-FS-Wake Forest
6-1/200/4.5/35.5 vert
NFL Comparison: Reggie Nelson/HaHa Clinton Dix

Like Tampa, Oakland passed on both Minkah Fitzpatrick and Derwin James on Thursday night. They get the FS need here at #41.

42. MIAMI DOLPHINS
Mason Rudolph-QB-OK ST
6-5/235
NFL Comparison: Brad Johnson/Chad Henne

Rudolph in the first would of been a major reach, mid way through the second is a smart pick.

43. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Mike Gesicki-TE-Penn St
6-5/247/4.54/41.5 vert/22 reps/6.76-3 cone
NFL Comparison: Jordan Cameron/Jared Cook

Rather than trade up for Tom Brady's replacement, the Patriots get him another weapon and give themselves some insurance in case Gronk gets injured or retires early.

44. WASHINGTON REDSKINS
Carlton Davis-CB-Auburn
6-1/206/4.53/34 vert/16 reps
NFL Comparison: Trumaine Johnson/Carlos Rodgers

The perfect physical corner to fit in their press scheme. Davis could eventually become the teams #1 corner as Josh Norman's play is starting to fall off a bit.

45. GREEN BAY PACKERS
Will Hernandez-G-UTEP
6-2/327/37 reps
NFL Comparison: Mike Iupati/Loius Vasquez

The DB needy Packers took Jaire Alexander (who I mocked at #45) last night. Now they must address the O-Line. Hernandez was expected to go in the first but the Packers will be very happy to see him last mid way through the second round.

46. CINCINNATI BENGALS
Harrison Phillips-NT/3T/DL-Stanford
6-3/307/42 reps
NFL Comparison: Brodrick Bunkley/Derek Wolfe

The Bengals were 29th against the run last year so needless to say they need some help in the middle of their D-Line. Phillips is a powerful player that can get on the field early.

47. ARIZONA CARDINALS
Courtland Sutton-WR-SMU
6-3/218/4.54/35.5 vert
NFL Comparison: Allen Robinson/Eric Decker

What a great situation this would be for Sutton. He can learn for a year with Larry Fitzgerald and then eventually become Arizona's #1 WR.

48. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
Maurice Hurst-3T/DL-Michigan
6-2/292/29 reps
NFL Comparison: Mike Daniels/Geno Atkins

Hurst may slip due to due to injury concerns over his irregular heart beat found at the combine. The Chargers continue to help their defense after taking Derwin James in the first round.

49. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Ronnie Harrison-SS-Alabama
6-2/207/4.65/34 vert
NFL Comparison: Barry Church/Mark Barron

The Colts get a true box safety to pair with 2017 first round pick and free safety Malik Hooker. Harrison is a hard hitter but may end up having to play more of a LB role like Mark Barron due to his coverage liabilities.

50. DALLAS COWBOYS
Christian Kirk-WR/KR-Texas A&M
5-10/201/4.47/20 reps
NFL Comparison: Golden Tate/Lee Evans

The Cowboys need some young play makers on the offense. Kirk is electric as both a slot receiver and as a return man. The former Aggies star stays in the Lone Star State.

51. DETROIT LIONS
Lorenzo Carter-EDGE-Georgia
6-5/250/4.46/30 vert
NFL Comparison: Danielle Hunter/John Abraham

Carter has great length and athletic ability and would be an ideal fit at DE opposite Ziggy Ansah and has skill set in coverage to play strong side LB.

52. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Ronald Jones-RB-USC
5-11/205/4.48
NFL Comparison: Jamaal Charles/Cadillac Williams

Jones is a big play RB with enough size to handle 15 touches a game. The Eagles could use a game breaker to split carries with Jay Ajayi

53. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Orlando Brown-OT/RT-Oklahoma
6-8/345
NFL Comparison: Bryant McKinnie/Phil Loadholt

Tampa takes a smart risk here. Brown was a top 15 lock until a horrible combine showing. However his experience and tape are still good.

54. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (10-6)
Donte Jackson-CB-LSU
5-10/178/4.32
NFL Comparison: Brandon Flowers

The Chiefs get a speedy corner to help replace Marcus Peters. Corners are at a premium and I expect at least four to go in the second round.

55. CAROLINA PANTHERS
Kyzir White-SS/Slot CB-West Virginia
6-1/218/21 reps/35.5
NFL Comparison: TJ McDonald

Carolina has one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. White has the versatility and size that Carolina desires.

56. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Kerryon Johnson-RB-Auburn
5-11/213/4.56/40 vert
NFL Comparison: Tevin Coleman

Tampa takes the ultra productive RB from the SEC. They need a true workhorse.

57. TENNESSEE TITANS
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo-EDGE-Oklahoma
6-2/253/4.77
NFL Comparison: Robert Mathis

The Titans get some needed pass rush help after taking a LB in the first round

58. ATLANTA FALCONS
Tyrell Crosby-RT/G-Oregon
6-5/309/17 reps
NFL Comparison: Jeff Allen

With both Jake Matthews and Andy Levitre both slated to hit free agency in 2019, the Falcons need to invest in a young versatile lineman to protect Matt Ryan.

59. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Darius Leonard-LB-S. Carolina St.
6-2/244/4.7
NFL Comparison: Malcolm Smith

San Fran takes a good LB after missing out on Roquan Smith and passing on Tremaine Edmunds last night.

60. PITTSBURGH STEELERS
Braden Smith-OL-Auburn
6-6/315/35 reps
NFL Comparison: Clint Boling

Pittsburgh looks to the SEC All American to help protect Big Ben.

61. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Dallas Goedert-TE-S. Dakota St
6-5/256/4.67/22 reps
NFL Comparison: Julius Thomas

Jacksonville needs an elite pass catching TE to take the offense to the next level.

62. MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Martinas Rankin-RT/G-Miss. St.
6-4/308/24 reps
NFL Comparison: Jake Matthews

The Vikings need offensive line in the worst way.

63. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Brian O'Neil-OT-Pittsburgh
6-7/297/4.8/22 reps
NFL Comparison: Jake Matthews

The Patriots need a LT to replace Nate Solder

64. CLEVELAND BROWNS
Nick Chubb-RB-Georgia
5-11/227/4.52/29 reps
NFL Comparison: Willis McGahee

The Browns passed on a member of the Chubb family in the first. They don't make the same mistake twice and take Bradley's cousin Nick to close out the second round.

Third Round

65. BALTIMORE RAVENS
James Washington-WR-OK ST
5-11/213/4.54/34.5 vert
NFL Comparison: Chris Chambers/Michael Crabtree
The Ravens learn from the failed Breshad Perriman experiment and draft a WR with much better production than athletic ability. Another solid and safe pick for Ozzie Newsome.

66. NEW YORK GIANTS
Arden Key-EDGE-LSU
6-4/238/7.16-3 cone
NFL Comparison: Barkeviuos Mingo
Key is worth the risk in the third round.

67. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
Rasheem Green-LDE/5T-USC
6-5/275/4.73
NFL Comparison: Malik Jackson
Green is raw but very talented, he can play DE and DT in the Colts 4-3 defense.

68. HOUSTON TEXANS (4-12)
Chucks Okorafor-RT/G-Western Michigan
6-6/320
NFL Comparison: Marcus Cannon
The Texans use their first pick to address their biggest need, the O-Line.

69. NEW YORK GIANTS
DJ Chark-Vertical WR-LSU
6-3/199/4.34
NFL Comparison: Mike Wallace
The Giants double up on LSU athletes here.

70. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (6-10)
Uchenna Nwosu-EDGE-USC
6-2/251/4.65/20 reps
NFL Comparison: Markus Golden
The 49ers stay in state to get their pass rusher.

71. DENVER BRONCOS
Mark Andrews-TE-Oklahoma
6-5/256/4.67/17 reps
NFL Comparison: Coby Fleener
The Broncos need pass catcher at both WR and TE. Andrews is good value here in the third round.

72. NEW YORK JETS
Deon Cain-Vert WR-Clemson
6-1/201/4.43
NFL Comparison: Mike Wallace
The Jets give new franchise QB Sam Darnold a true deep threat.

73. MIAMI DOLPHINS
Tim Settle-NT/DL-Virginia Tech
6-/335
NFL Comparison: Pot Roast Knighton
The Dolphins must replace Ndamukong Suh. Settle is the ideal space eating nose tackle.

74. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Equanimeaous St Brown-WR-ND
6-4/214/4.48/20 reps
NFL Comparison: Martavis Bryant
ESB is a big WR with elite speed to help out Jimmy Garoppolo.

75. OAKLAND RAIDERS
Malik Jefferson-LBTexas
6-2/236/4.52/27 reps/36 vert
NFL Comparison: Nigel Bradham
The Raiders get a stud LB and elite athlete in Jefferson.

76. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Austin Corbett-G-Nevada
6-4/306/19 reps
NFL Comparison: Joe Greco
The Seahawks give Russell Wilson some toughness up front

77. CINCINNATI BENGALS

NFL Comparison: Randall Cobb

81. DALLAS COWBOYS
Ian Thomas-TE-Indiana
6-4/259/4.65/36 vert
