  This year’s free agent crop is very thin due to all the starts staying with their current teams via extensions or exercising a player option. These stars include LeBron James, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. High end starters like Julius Randle and Fred VanVleet also signed extensions. Here are the teams with cap space:   1.  Brooklyn Nets : $35-50 million depending on if they extend their best player, Restricted Free Agent Cam Thomas   2. Detroit Pistons:  Up to $20 million if they renounce Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dennis Schroder. This seems much more likely now that Beasley is being investigated by the FBI for gambling.   These Teams can offer the $14.1 Million Non-Tax Midlevel Exception.
