2024 NFL DRAFT: Position Breakdown: OFFENSIVE LINE

2024 OFFENSIVE LINE PROSPECTS

This year’s crop of offensive lineman provides a great value to teams in need. The tackle class has several plug and play starters that could go in round one. The interior provides a lot of value, but may only have one or two players drafted in the first round.  Left Tackle

Teams with Multiple Needs

TENNESSEE TITANS: The Titans will almost certainly take a left tackle with the number 7 pick. It would not surprise if they used a day 3 pick on an interior lineman as well.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS: Right Guard Isaac Seumalo proved to be worth the 3 year 24-million-dollar contract he signed and Right Tackle Broderick Jones showed flashes as a rookie. However, the rest of the line could use upgrades. They have the 20th pick and will likely draft an interior lineman or a tackle that falls to them.

BUFFALO BILLS: Left Tackle Dion Dawkins remains a franchise player protecting Josh Allen’s blindside. Right Tackle Spencer Brown is entering the last year of his deal and has been average at best. Rookie Right Guard O'Cyrus Torrence started every game for them. The Bills are not a lock to draft a lineman in the first round but have plenty of draft capital (10 picks) to add a lot of depth.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: Tristan Wirfs was great moving from Right Tackle to Left Tackle in 2023. Tampa has a ton of young talent on the line and they will continue to add more guys to protect Baker Mayfield.

MIAMI DOLPHINS: Left Tackle Terron Armstead remains solid and they gave young Right Tackle Austin Jackson an extension. They signed Aaron Brewer to start at center but could use upgrades at both guard spots.

ARIZONA CARDINALS: The tackles are solid after signing Jonah Williams and drafting Paris Johnson last year. However, they could use an upgrade at every interior spot. Both Will Hernandez and Hjalte Froholdt will be free agents after this year.

Teams with Specific Need:

BALTIMORE RAVENS: Starting Right Tackle or Left Guard

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: Starting Left Tackle

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: Starting Left Tackle

DENVER BRONCOS: Starting Center

DALLAS COWBOYS: Starting Center

MINNESOTA VIKINGS: Starting Left Guard

PROSPECTS

Joe Alt-OT-Notre Dame
6'9"/321/82.75” Wingspan/27 reps
NFL Comp: Joe Thomas/Taylor Decker
PFF Grade: 90.7
Accolades: 2023 1st Team All-American
Starts: 33, 32 at Left Tackle, 1 at Right Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Left Tackle
Alt has a unique combination of skill, height, length and power that makes him an ideal starting left tackle. He is an elite pass protector and is solid in the run game. He has a chance to be an all-time great like Joe Thomas. His floor is a high-end starter like Taylor Decker. The team that drafts Alt is likely getting a player that can start in the league for a decade.

Olu Fashanu-OT-Penn St
6'6"/312/82.63”
NFL Comp: Laremy Tunsil/Jake Matthews
PFF Grade: 78.7
Accolades: 2023 1st Team All-American, All Big Ten
Starts: 21 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left Tackle
Fashanu is arguably the best pass blocker in this draft class. He possesses elite athletic tools that translate on the field. He is just a notch below Atl as a prospect, but has the potential to be just as good. Similar to Tunsil and Matthews, Fashanu projects as a long-term starting left tackle.

Taliese Fuaga-OT-Oregon St
6'6"/324/80.63”
NFL Comp: Penei Sewell/Kaleb McGary
PFF Grade: 88.2
Accolades: 2023 2nd Team All-American, All PAC 12
Starts: 25 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle
Fuaga is the best run blocker in the entire class. He is the ideal right tackle prospect that can also kick inside to guard. I compare him to Sewell, the best right tackle and best run blocker in the NFL. A team that wants to establish the run game could use Fuaga as an instant starter. His lack of length is the only reason for concern as a starting tackle.

JC Latham-OT-Alabama
6'6"/342/84.38”
NFL Comp: Donovan Smith/Cordy Glenn
PFF Grade: 81.9
Accolades: 2023 2nd Team All-American, All SEC
Starts: 25 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left or Right Tackle
Latham met high expectations as the highest rated offensive tackle in the 2021 high school class. His combination of size and length is elite. He has versatility as a pass and run blocker and could start at either tackle spot. Some pundits think he could end up being the best overall in this tackle class.

Troy Fautanu-OT-Washington
6'4"/317/81.5”
NFL Comp: Rodger Saffold/Taylor Moton
PFF Grade: 75.5
Accolades: 2023 3rd All-American, first-team All-Pac-12
Starts: 30, 28 at Left Tackle, 2 at Left Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle or Guard in a Zone Scheme
Fautanu is a bully that plays with a nasty streak. He would fit best in a zone blocking scheme. He is a very good pass protector that is very agile for his size. Like Saffold and Moton, Fautanu should be a very good right tackle that can also play guard.

Amarius Mims-OT-Georgia
6'8"/340/86.75”
NFL Comp: Jordan Mailata/Bryant McKinnie
PFF Grade: 75.6
Starts: 15 all at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left or Right Tackle
Mims is a big tackle prospect that has elite length. Like Mailata, he has rare athletic gifts for someone carrying that weight. He knows how to use his length and quick feet in pass protection. His limited starting experience is the main question going into the draft.

Jackson Powers Johnson-C/G-Oregon
6’3”/328/78.5”/30 reps
NFL Comparison: Damien Woody/Tyler Biadasz
PFF Grade: 84.5
Accolades: Rimington Award winner, 1st Team All-American
Starts: 13 at Center, 1 at Right Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Center
Powers-Johnson was the best center in the country as he took home the Rimington Award. He has an elite combination of power, toughness and intelligence. He is arguably the safest offensive line prospect in the class. He should be an instant starter from day one. Both the Steelers and Cowboys need a starting center.

Tyler Guyton-OT-Oklahoma
6'8"/322/82.25”
NFL Comp: Brian O'Neill/Alex Barron
PFF Grade: 63.7
Starts: 14 starts; 13 at Left Tackle, 1 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle
Guyton is not as experienced as the other tackles in this class as he was a backup at Oklahoma his junior year after transferring from TCU. He is very tall and with long arms. He is a very good pass protector with great athletic tools very similar O’Neill and Barron

Graham Barton-C/G/OT-Duke
6'5"/313/79.75”
NFL Comp: Graham Glasgow/Elgton Jenkins
PFF Grade: 75.9
Starts: 39, 34 at Left Tackle, 5 at Center
Ideal Role: Starting Guard in a power run scheme
Barton is the most versatile prospect in this class with experience at center and left tackle. In the NFL he will move inside to guard. Like Glasgow and Jenkins, he should be a good starter with position versatility.

Jordan Morgan-OT-Arizona
6'5"/311/81.38”
NFL Comp: Dion Dawkins/Mitchell Schwartz
PFF Grade: 83.5
Starts: 37 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Tackle
Morgan is a very experienced tackle prospect that overcame an ACL injury and returned to become an All American. He is a much better pass protector and would fit well on a team that passes the ball more.

Zach Frazier-C-West Virginia

NFL Comp: Ted Karras/Stefen Wisniewski
PFF Grade: 76.5

Christian Haynes-G-UConn
6'3"/317/79.75”/25 Reps
NFL Comp: Nate Davis/Ronald Leary
PFF Grade: 80.2

NFL Comp: Demar Dotson/Matt Pryor
PFF Grade: 81.1
Starts: 44 all at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle or Swing Tackle
Paul is another very tall, long and athletic tackle in this class. He could develop into a very good pass protector if given time to develop.

Blake Fisher-OT-Notre Dame
6'6"/310/83.0”
NFL Comp: John Theus/Kenyatta Walker

Sedrick Van Pran-C-Georgia
6'4"/298/78.63”
NFL Comp: Erik McCoy/Andre James
PFF Grade: 77.9
Accolades: 2nd Team All-American, All SEC
Starts: 43 all at Center
Ideal Role: Starting Center
Van Pran was the anchor for the Georgia offense that was balanced in the run and pass games. Van Pran was a leader on a winning team and that should translate as a starting center in the NFL.

Christian Mahogany-G/C-Boston College
6'3"/314/81.63”
NFL Comp: Chris Snee/Kevin Dotson
PFF Grade: 74.9
Starts: 34, 23 at Right Guard and 11 at Left Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Guard in a power gap scheme
Mahogany is athletic and powerful guard. He bounced back from a torn ACL and was one of the best linemen in the ACC. He is a very physical run blocker that needs work in the pass game.

Dominick Puni-RT/G-Kansas

Rosengarten was the fastest lineman at the combine posting a 4.92 forty which is just INSANE to do at over 300 pounds.
