Best Case NBA Comparison: Modern Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Other NBA Comparisons: Ralph Sampson/Rudy Gobert with a Jump Shot
ROLE: Superstar Modern Day Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Elite Length/Scoring/Shot Blocking/Rebounding/Versatility
The Spurs won the lottery and have their next great big man after having NBA legend Tim Duncan and the great David Robinson. Simply put Wenbenyama is unlike any prospect that we have seen in recent draft history. He has fluidity and movement skills unlike any seven-footer since Kareem. He has an 8-foot wingspan and is the best shot blocking prospect in draft history. He can block shots with either hand and times his jumps well. He also rebounds well on both ends of the court.
On offense, he is a perimeter player that can create his own shot which is unblockable due to his length. He isn’t quite Durant or Dirk but he has very nice form. He is an excellent free throw shooter as well. He is excellent in pick and roll and is great rolling to the rim to finish dunks.
The only concern is with if his long frame can handle 30 plus minutes per game for a long NBA season. Several players with similar builds have had injury issues with their knees or feet (Yao Ming, Kristaps Porziņģis, Bol Bol, and Ralph Sampson). Kareem had a similar build and fluidity and was among the most durable players in NBA history. Wenbenyama has a chance to become a superstar if he does not get injured. It will be interesting to see how long it takes him to ascend among the best players in the world.

NBA Comparison: Baron Davis/Derrick Rose/Weight Room Rajon Rondo
ROLE:Starting Point Guard with Superstar Potential
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Elite Athletic Ability/Passion/Alpha Mentality/Passing
Henderson would be the number one pick in most years. He graduated high school early which has allowed him to play two years in the G League with Ignite. If he falls to number 3 there is a good chance a team would make a trade with Portland in order to build around Scoot.
He has held his own against grown men as a teenager and improved his shooting and playmaking. He uses his great length and strong frame to get anywhere he wants on the court. I compare him to a stronger version of Rondo with his passing ability and wingspan. The thing that pops on film is the passion and toughness that he plays with. He is always in attack mode and is fearless taking it to the hoop.
His body and athletic ability remind me of prime Baron Davis. He is a stronger version of pre-injury Derrick Rose. Like Davis, Rose and Rondo he will never be an elite shooter. If he becomes a great shooter then he could become the best player in the NBA. On defense he knows how to use his length on ball and is good reading passing lanes for steals. Scoot is the perfect young prospect to build a team around. He may even have more early success than Wenbenyama given how guard oriented the league is.

Miller is an easy fit next to a scoring guard due to with ability to shoot. He would pair nice with Dame Lillard. He is very versatile as he can also rebound, defend and create. He has a very thin frame and gets pushed around by more physical players.
He compares to Ingram and Middleton in terms of shooting ability, size and skill set. Like both players, Miller should be an All Star but will need to improve his body and defense in order to be on the superstar level.

ROLE:Versatile Starter with ability to play and guard multiple positions
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Elite Athletic Ability /Length/Defense
Amen is the great mystery of the draft. His upside is right there with top prospects. He has absolute unreal explosiveness. He can play three positions at a high level. He is a great playmaker that can get to the rim at will. He can finish and pass it as well as anyone in this class. Had he been in a different draft or played in college he would likely be a top pick candidate. He is team first player that makes the right play and can fit in multiple systems. He has great length and is a willing defender.
The positive traits are there but so are many questions. Is he a point guard? Can he be the best player on my team? Will he develop a shot? Right now, he is more playmaker than true point and is a horrible shooter from deep and the free throw line (hence the Simmons comparison). He has athletic ability and explosiveness of Wiggins and an all-around game like Hughes. If he could combine the best parts of those players then he has a chance to be very special. He would be a good fit on the Rockets due to his ability to create and defend. They have some good young scorers so he could be used in a role similar to how the Thunder use Josh Giddey or he could be used as a 6th man that can facilitate the second unit.

Ausar is more of a scorer than his brother Amen at this point in their career. He is not a great shooter but has the ability to develop his shot. Similar to Iggy and Smith, Ausar is a freak athlete that is great on the break. He has the length to guard multiple positions on defense. Both Ausar and Amen are elite passers at such a young age.
The brothers have played off of each other basically their whole lives so it will be an adjustment not being on the same team. However, imagine if Houston were to offer the number 20 pick, Jae'Sean Tate and KJ Martin, would that be enough to entice the Pistons to move down. Ausar would fit in Detroit if the Pistons keep the pick. He could be a second unit facilitator that would take the pressure off of Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey.

BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Defense/Hustle
If I were the Magic, I would trade picks 6 and 11 to move up for Scoot Henderson. He would take them to another level in my opinion. I would then use free agency to address the need for a shooter. The Magic need shooting and Dick is the best shooter in the draft. Nearly every mock has him going to the Magic at number 11 but he worked out for Pacers, Jazz and Mavs so he may not even be there at 11.
Dick has a highly recruited player that more than lived up to the hype at Kansas. He has all the tools one looks for in a shooter. He could be as good as Miller who had a 17-year career and won two titles along with a 6th Man Award. Like Huerter and Miller he can be a starter and 3rd option on a playoff team. They could also take Anthony Black here and then look to trade Cole Anthony or Jalen Suggs. I think they play it safe and get the surefire shooter.

Walker is built like a tank and is ready to
contribute to an NBA roster from day one. He has an elite combination of power
and length. He can bully smaller defenders and has the skill set to score on
players his size. He has the length and athletic ability to guard anywhere from
the 3-5. He reminds me of a prime Horace Grant and Paul Millsap. Like those
guys, he would be best utilized as the number three option on a contender.
The Pacers have one of the best guard groups
in the NBA with Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy
Hield and last year’s first round pick Ben Mathurin. Walker would provide them
with the physical presence that they are lacking as they were 24th
in rebounding. They played 6’5” Aaron Nesmith at power forward at times last

Washington is completely rebuilding after trading Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porziņģis this week. Black could start at the two next to Monte Morris and then eventually be the starting point guard. His inconsistent shot is what is keeping him from the top five and superstar potential.

NBA Comparison: Caron Butler/Rodney Rogers

BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Toughness/Athletic Ability/Defense
Just like I said with Orlando, if I were the Jazz, I would package picks 9, 16 and Kelly Olynk to move up and take Scoot Henderson. There is a chance that this could happen. If they stay, it will likely be between Whitmore or Taylor Hendricks. Whitmore is a better fit next to All Star Lauri Markkanen. They can play him at the three or as a small ball four.
Whitmore can do a bit of everything and already has the physical tools that scouts look for. If he was a little bit longer and a better shooter then he would be seen as a top 5 lock. I compare him to Rogers who was drafted 9th in 1993 and was a quality role player for a decade. I also see a lot of Butler who was drafted 10th in 2001 and was a great role player on many winning teams. He is a very safe pick in the 6-10 range given his versatility and toughness. He has little to no bust potential but will not be a star unless he becomes and elite shooter.

Pretty much everyone has Brandon Miller rated ahead of Hendricks but I think Hendricks has more upside given his two-way potential. Some see him as a 3 and D prospect, but with his length and shooting touch he could turn into a star. The number ten spot historically has given us some great wings including George, Bridges, Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson and south Florida legend Eddie Jones. I think Hendricks will be the steal of the draft and he would be the perfect fit to play with Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving. The Mavs could also move this pick for a veteran player.

Lively fits as the modern-day big man. His 2.4 blocks per game were elite considering he only played 20.6 minutes per game. He moves very well for his size and is pretty strong for someone with his length. His offensive game is very limited to lobs and offensive boards right now. He is a good roller off of picks which has led some to compare him to Tyson Chandler.
The Magic get yet another Duke big man that can fit next to last year’s number one pick and Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero and starting center Wendell Carter Jr. It wouldn’t shock me if the Magic took Lively with the 6th pick. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took his game to another level last season making first team All-NBA. He is the young superstar that the Thunder can build around. SGA is a long lefty from Canada. I have the Thunder taking another long lefty from Canada in Miller. He would fit perfect in the frontcourt next to Chet Holmgren.
Miller knows how to use his tools to be an effective player. Similar to Odom and Young his best trait is his length and ability to play positionless basketball. Odom was a champion as the 4th option on the Lakers. At worst he will be a solid bench guy like Vanderbilt. Miller has a chance to have similar success and could be the biggest steal in this draft.

The Raptors are unsure if Fred VanVleet will be back in Toronto as he is a free agent. Even if he does come back, they need to add depth at the guard spot. The Raptors especially need defensive help on the perimeter and Wallace would be the perfect fit.
Wallace thrives in his role as a defensive stopper and playmaking point guard. Currently, his offensive game is limited so I don’t agree with the Jrue Holiday comparisons. However, this is a guy that I love and has no bust potential due to his willingness to defend and his toughness. He proved he can play off the ball in addition to the point. Like Snow, Allen and Caruso, Wallace should be an elite defender in the league for many years and can add much value to any contender.

2024 should be a make or break year for the Pelicans as they figure out what they need to do to become contenders. They have the talent to compete but need to stay healthy. The Pelicans need more depth and scoring at guard off the bench.
George was a top-rated prospect that played well but was very inconsistent in his one year at Baylor. He is a little stronger and more versatile that Smith. Coulibaly played alongside Wenbenyama at his club team in France and has proven to be the perfect role player. I think the Spurs will trade back into the first round to pair Coulibaly with Wenbenyama. The Hawks could unload an unwanted high salary guy like John Collins or DeAndre Hunter to the Spurs who have a ton of cap space. This makes sense for both rosters.
Coulibaly has the perfect combination of length, athletic ability and size as a wing defender. At this point, he is no threat to score on his own and is a below average spot up shooter. A team in need of defense could get the perfect role player in Coulibaly.

Hawkins took the biggest step from Freshman to Sophomore season of any player in the draft. His minutes doubled and he was crucial in UConn winning the title. He knows his role a shooter and plays well with other great players. It will benefit him if he goes to a playoff team right away. His frame is small and he is not a great dribbler for a guard. At best he could be a good 3rd option like Hardaway Jr. but is more likely to be a very good role player for a long time like Ellington.
The Jazz need a wing shooter after trading Malik Beasley. They also need depth at guard with Jordan Clarkson and Talen Horton-Tucker both potential free agents. The Jazz finished 7th in offense but were 20th in 3-point percentage. Hawkins can help an already good offense get to another level.

Like Dragic and Russell, Bufkin is a lefty that relies on hesitation and body control to get offense rather than athletic ability. Bufkin is not a traditional point guard but can be a very good option playing with a high-volume scorer Jimmy Butler. Bufkin played at Michigan under former Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard. He does not provide much as a creator or rebounder. Cook and Little were both high rated high school prospects turned one and done that were drafted in the twenties. That is the draft range for Whitehead after a disappointing season at Duke. The Wizards are in a complete rebuild and go for the young talent here.

Moore was the Mountain West Player of the Year
leading San Jose St to a winning season for the first time in over a decade. He
did everything in college but will need to find a niche in order to make a
roster in the NBA.

Hifi stayed in the draft but will probably play a few more seasons in Europe if he is drafted. He has a nice skill set but lacks ideal size and athletic ability.

BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Playmaking/Toughness
Nowell was the story of March Madness as he
had several huge games all the way to the Elite Eight. He’s a playmaker from
NYC that is combines flash and fundamentals. He is an excellent shooter and
creator. He could find his way on a roster but has an uphill battle with his
lack of height. He will have a long pro career though it may not be in the NBA.
