2022 NBA DRAFT: MOCK DRAFT

FIRST ROUND

1. ORLANDO MAGIC
Jabari Smith-PF-Auburn
6'10''/220/7'3.25''
Fr./18.9
16.9 PTS      7.4 REB        1.1 BLK        42.0%-3PT
Hometown: Tyrone, GA
Best Case NBA Comparison: Kawhi Leonard
Likely NBA Comparison: Rashard Lewis/Andrea Bargnani
ROLE: #1/2 scorer on a good team, All Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Elite Shooter/Length/Defense/Versatility

Smith is the odds-on favorite to be drafted first. If Orlando does take him at one, they will expect dividends of Kawhi Leonard. However, I think he may be destined to be like Bargnani (drafted first overall based on elite potential but may not be able to live up to the first pick hype). I don’t think there is any bust potential for Smith as he will most certainly be a contributor and should eventually be a 20 ppg guy.

If I were the Magic, I would take Paolo Banchero and build my team like the early 2000s Sacramento Kings with Banchero as my Chris Webber, Jalen Suggs as Mike Bibby, Franz Wagner as Peja
Stojaković, Cole Anthony as Bobby Jackson and look to find a Doug Christie and Vlade Divac.

It looks like the Magic seem to be building like the 2008-2010 Magic with Smith as Rashard Lewis, Wagner as Hedo Türkoğlum, Suggs as a bigger Jameer Nelson with the hope of getting a Dwight Howard via trade (DeAndre Ayton) or via the first pick in the 2023 NBA draft (Victor Wembanyama).

2. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Chet Holmgren-PF-Gonzaga
7'1''/200/7'6''
14.4 PTS      9.9 REB        3.7 BLK        39.0%-3PT
Fr./20.1
Hometown: Saint Paul, MN
Best Case NBA Comparison: Modern Kevin McHale
Likely NBA Comparison: Marcus Camby/Taller Christian Wood
ROLE: Versatile Starting Power Forward with Superstar Potential
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Shot Blocking/Elite Length/Soft touch with both hands

Holmgren is as unique a prospect as anyone has seen in decades. He skill set in undeniable, but the major question mark is regarding his slight frame. Is he over 200 pounds? Can he eventually get up to a 220 playing weight? What we do know is that players that are over 7 feet with movement and skills like Chet are not walking this planet. He really has nearly every tool a scout would look for in a player except for the lack of strength.

Given his shooting touch, he would be a great fit playing alongside playmakers Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey. Though if the Thunder take him at #2 they better invest in a PHYSICAL center to pair him with. They can draft Jalen Duren at #12 or by signing someone like Montrezl Harrell or Mitchell Robinson.

As far as finding a player comparison I went with the fellow Minnesotan in a modern-day Kevin McHale. Holmgren will be best used as a four-man next to a physical center. He has the same gangly frame as McHale with just an incredible fundamental skill set. Unlike McHale, he probably doesn’t end up in the perfect situation like McHale had in Boston. The size concerns are real, but they are no more a concern than Pau Gasol or Kevin Garnett coming into the league.

3. HOUSTON ROCKETS
Paolo Banchero-PF-Duke
6'10''/250/7'0.5''
Fr./19.6 yrs
17.2 PTS      7.8 REB        3.2 AST        1.1 STL
Hometown: Portland, OR
Best Case NBA Comparison: Chris Webber
Likely NBA Comparison: Al Horford/Carlos Boozer
ROLE: Elite Staring Big than can facilitate an offense
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Alpha Mentality/Versatility/Passing skills for a Big

In my humble opinion, Banchero is the best player overall in the draft. He is a chiseled 250 pounds that is NBA ready. He was the clear-cut best player and go to guy for a Duke team that will have 5 guys drafted on draft night. He got better as the season went along and led Duke to the Final Four. He isn’t quite the Blake Griffin or Amar'e Stoudemire athlete, but he can throw it down with the best of them. There are some concerns that he is not a great defender but given his athletic ability and length he can still be serviceable on defense.

He probably would be in the best position for success in Houston playing alongside a young scorer like Jalen Green and another young big in Alperen Şengün. I like to judge prospects based on floor and I think AT WORST we are talking about a Horford or Boozer type of player in Banchero. He is an excellent passer for a big man and his shot is improving. He has the right mentality to be successful in the league as he as been quoted many times that he feels that he is the best player in the draft.

4. SACRAMENTO KINGS
Jaden Ivey-SG-Purdue
6'5''/180/6'7.5''
17.3 PTS      4.0 REB        3.1 AST        35.8%-3PT
So./20.3
Hometown: South Bend, IN
Best Case NBA Comparison: Russell Westbrook
Likely NBA Comparison: Victor Oladipo/Michael Finley
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Elite Athletic Ability/Playmaking/First Step/Toughness

One way or another, Ivey will likely be the number four pick in the draft. Will the Kings keep him or will they trade the pick for a proven veteran. Ivey made a smart decision to return to school and he is now a lock to be drafted in the top 5. He really struggled shooting the ball as a freshman and was able to improve from 26% to 36% from 3 in his second college season. He also improved his passing, rebounding and defense. He is by far and away the most explosive athlete in this class. His first step is as good as any player, and he can elevate and finish like Westbrook or Ja Morant. Like those guys he is very reliant on his physical traits. He has some questions on defense and his NBA position.

He certainly has the skill set to become a point guard but thus far has been better as a shooting guard. In the modern NBA that may not matter. He would be an ideal fit next to Cade Cunningham in Detroit and Pistons GM Troy Weaver would be smart to trade up a spot or two to get him. The Kings pick at number 4 and will have the phones ringing on draft night by teams looking to get Ivey. Other teams rumored to be interested in in Ivey are the Knicks, Spurs, Pacers and Hawks. This is the most intriguing situation to monitor on draft night

5. DETROIT PISTONS
Keegan Murray-CF-Iowa
6'8''/215/6'11''
So./21.8
23.5 PTS      8.7 REB        39.8%-3PT    1.5 AST        1.9 BLK          1.3 STL
Hometown: Cedar Rapids, IA
Best Case NBA Comparison: Antawn Jamison
Likely NBA Comparison: Donyell Marshall/Jamal Mashburn
ROLE: Starting Combo Forward with All Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Versatility/Basketball IQ/Defense/Leadership

The Pistons rebuild is already off to a good start with last year’s top pick Cade Cunningham and young slasher Saddiq Bey. Murray would be the next player that can improve the rebuild. The native Midwesterner would fit perfect in Detroit and Murray is the most NBA ready player in the draft class.

He has more value in today’s NBA as he can guard multiple positions and play as a small ball power forward. I compare him to three guys from the 90s that would all be better players in the modern league. He could be an uber productive guy like Jamison but at the least he should have a productive career like Marshall or Mashburn (Jamison, Marshall and Mashburn were all picked #4, Murray may go #4 as well but the odds are he goes #5

6. INDIANA PACERS

Bennedict Mathurin-SG/SF-Arizona
6'6''/205/6'9''
17.7 PTS      5.6 REB        2.5 AST        36.9%-3PT    76.4%-FT
So./21.1
Hometown: Montreal
NBA Comparison: Terrence Ross/Andrew Wiggins
ROLE: Starting Wing with All Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Defense/Hustle

The Pacers pick is where the draft will really shape itself unless Murray or Ivey somehow falls to them. The Pacers have been the model of consistency for the past 30 years as this is their highest pick since Rik Smits in 1989. The last top 10 pick they had they ended up with Paul George in 2010. They need size and defense, but the best players here are all wings. My guess is they trade the pick for a veteran

Mathurin would be the right pick here in either a trade or if they keep the pick as he is the best two-way prospect of the wings. Like his fellow Canadian Andrew Wiggins, Mathurin could eventually be an All Star but will need to be in the right situation. If he ends up being a quality starter like Ross that would still be good enough for a top 10 pick. Mathurin is among the safest pick in the draft given his two-way skills.

7. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
Shaedon Sharpe -SG-Kentucky (Did not play)
6'5''/198/6'11.5''
NO STATS
Fr./19.0
Hometown: Toronto
NBA Comparison: Devin Booker/Nick Young/JR Smith
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Length/Athletic Ability

Sharpe cancelled a previously scheduled workout with the Pelicans which may point to a promise by either Indiana or Portland. Portland could trade this pick to Toronto for a package involving OG Anunoby, this could put Sharpe back in his hometown. If Portland keeps this pick Sharpe could be a good young scorer to help ease the pressure off superstar Damian Lillard. Either way, Sharpe has a good chance to get drafted this high.

8. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
A.J. Griffin-SF-Duke
6'6''/222/7'0''
10.4 PTS      3.9 REB        44.7%-3PT    79.2%-Fe T
Fr./18.8
Hometown: White Plains, NY
NBA Comparison: Corey Maggette/Justise Winslow
ROLE: 3 and D Starting Wing with high scoring potential
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Versatility/Power

The Pelicans are built around fellow Duke players in Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. They could continue this with Griffin. The Pelicans were the winners of last year's draft class as #35 pick Herb Jones, undrafted Jose Alvarado and #17 pick Trey Murphy were all contributors on last year's team. Jones was second team All Rookie.

Griffin had a great season from beyond the arc and has potential to be a versatile scorer. He is one of the youngest prospects in the draft yet already has an NBA ready frame. I compare him to two fellow Duke one a done players in Maggette and Winslow. He could turn into a 16-20 ppg guy like Maggette but I think it is more likely he ends up a very good role player.

9. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Jeremy Sochan-CF-Baylor
6'8''/230/7'0''
9.2 PTS        6.4 REB        1.8 AST        0.7 BLK        1.3 STL
Fr./19.0
Hometown: Milton Keynes, England but also a Polish citizen
NBA Comparison: Ron Artest early career/Thabo Sefolosha
ROLE: All Defensive Player that can plug and play at several positions
BEST TOOLS: Elite Defender/Toughness/Playmaking/Hustle

With 3 picks in the first round the Spurs seem like the ideal team to move up in the draft for someone like Murray or Ivey. If they stay at pick 9, they will likely follow the same model they have the past few drafts in drafting for pure upside. The Spurs lineup after the Derrick White trade was Dejonte Murray-Devin Vassell-Keldon Johnson-Doug McDermott-Jakob Poeltl. Murray is an emerging star, but they should look to trade for someone like John Collins or Myles Turner to help up front.

Sochan should end up being the best wing defender in this draft. He reminds me so much of Artest when he came into the league. Sochan can realistically guard all five positions in the modern NBA. He is the type of player the Spurs have always valued.

10. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Dyson Daniels-SF/SG-G League Ignite:
6'8''/195/ 6'10.5''
11.3 PTS      6.2 REB        4.4 AST        1.9 STL
GL/19.3
Hometown: Bendigo, Australia
NBA Comparison: Malcolm Brogdon/Evan Turner
ROLE: Starting Wing with All Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Versatility/On Ball Defense

Managements main concern is signing Bradley Beal to a Max contract. In the mean time they will try to find players that can help ease the burden off of Beal having to do too much. Daniels fits perfectly as a player that can do this.

He has really improved his stock in the pre-draft process as he showed well at the combine finishing first in the shuttle run. He is a glue guy that does all the little things well. He stuffed the stat sheet on Ignite this past season. He is NOT a good shooter by any means, but he has Andre Igoudala upside in the perfect situation.

11. NEW YORK KNICKS
Johnny Davis-SG-Wisconsin
6'6''/196/6'8.5''
19.7 PTS      8.2 REB        2.1 AST        1.2 STL
So./20.3
Hometown: La Crosse, WI
NBA Comparison: Bonzi Wells/Latrell Sprewell
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard/High End 6th/7th Man
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Toughness/IQ/Scoring

Davis is a throwback player as he compares better with guys like Sprewell and Wells given his defense and toughness. If he was a better shooter, he would likely be a top 5 pick. Davis is a winning player that does a lot of the little things. He is an excellent rebounder considering his lack of length and that he is not an elite athlete.

The Knicks are looking to trade Alec Burks and they hope to sign another guard in free agency. Davis would be a smart and safe pick here. He is a good player that can help
them right away on both ends of the court.

12. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Jalen Duren-C-Memphis
6'11''/250/7'4''
12.0 PTS      8.1 REB        2.1 BLK
Fr./18.6
Hometown: New Castle, DE
NBA Comparison: DeAndre Jordan/Jarrett Allen
ROLE: High Energy Big Man with All Star potential
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Mobility/Length

Duren is one of the youngest players in the draft and offers incredible physical skills. Similar to Jordan and Allen, he doesn’t provide much offense on his own. If Duren can find the right system and right point guard, he can blossom into an All Star.

This pick would be great for the Thunder as they would have the ideal strong athlete to pair with Holmgren. Duren and Holmgren would form a freakishly long front line build very similar to the Cavs with Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.

13. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Mark Williams-C-Duke
7'2''/242/7'6.5''
11.2 PTS      7.4 REB        2.8 BLK
So./20.5
Hometown: Norfolk, VA
NBA Comparison: JaVale McGee/Rudy Gobert
ROLE: High Energy Defensive Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Length/Shot Blocking/Rebounding

Williams has Gobert like length with his nearly 9’9” standing reach and 7'6.5'' wingspan. His size and athletic ability should allow him to stick in the league like McGee. He does have All-Defense upside like Gobert. Williams also proved he is comfortable as a role player as he played alongside many talented players at Duke the past two seasons.

Charlotte has a major need for a big man. Williams would be an anchor on defense and can set screens and catch dunks. The Hornets want to play at a faster pace and Willaims is the perfect modern day center for this.

14. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Ochai Agbaji-SG/SF-Kansas
6'6''/217/6'10.25''
18.8 PTS      5.1 REB        40.7%-3PT
Sr./22.2
Hometown: Kansas City
NBA Comparison: Josh Hart/Arron Afflalo
ROLE: Starting Wing Sharpshooter
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Defense/Hustle

Agbaji was the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four as he led Kansas to a National Title. Unlike Griffin and Sharpe, scouts and managers know exactly what they are getting with him. He has the size to play either wing spot. He really improved his shooting this past season and it led to a jump in scoring and efficiency. He will likely be drafted by a team that is looking to compete right now.

The Cavs took a huge leap this year as Darius Garland became an All Star and 2021 #2 overall pick Evan Mobley looks like a future star. The Cavs still need to improve on offense as they were 25
th in scoring and 20th in offensive rating. Agbaji can help them improve on offense and is ready to contribute from day one.

15. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Ousmane Dieng-SF-France/New Zealand Breakers
6'10''/200/7'0''
New Zealand (NBL): 8.9 PTS       3.1 REB
INT/19.1
Hometown: Lot-et-Garonne, France
NBA Comparison: Otto Porter/Anthony Randoph
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/ Starting Forward
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Playmaking/Length

Dieng is a long and slender wing that has versatility. He is not ready to play right away but has a lot of potential. His draft range varies from late lottery all the way to the 20s. As is the case with player like this he will need to find the right fit to have success. The Hornets will likely trade one of their two first round picks. If they keep or trade it Dieng is the right prospect here with a lot of upside. Could he become another Giannis or Kawhi? (both picked at #15)

16. ATLANTA HAWKS
Tari Eason-PF-LSU
6'8''/217/7'2''
16.9 PTS      6.6 REB        1.9 STL
So./21.1
Hometown: Seattle
NBA Comparison: Wesley Johnson/Dorian Finney-Smith
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/Starting Forward
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Hustle/Length

Eason transferred from Cincinnati to LSU and was an All-SEC performer. His length and situation remind me a lot of Wesley Johnson in his one year at Syracuse. He can defend the 2-4 and has the athletic ability to be a very good rebounder too. The Hawks are rumored to be moving John Collins and Danilo Gallinari turns 34 this summer and is in the last year of his deal. Eason would be a very nice depth piece to the front court.

17. HOUSTON ROCKETS
TyTy Washington-PG-Kentucky
6'4''/196/6'8''
12.5 PTS      3.5 REB        3.9 AST
Fr./20.6
Hometown: Phoenix
NBA Comparison: Jarrett Jack/Andre Miller
ROLE: Solid Starting Point Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/IQ/Shooting

Washington is a big guard that is a good passer and a solid scorer. He is an old school point guard that relies on his fundamentals and skill set more than athleticism. He has very nice size and is probably the only guy in this draft that a coach would feel comfortable starting as a point guard.
Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr are both more scorers than true point guards. TyTy can become the point guard of the future with the young Houston core.

18. CHICAGO BULLS
EJ Liddell-PF-Ohio St
6'7''/242/6'11.75''
19.4 PTS      7.9 REB        2.5 AST        2.6 BLK
Jr./21.5
Hometown: Belleville, IL
NBA Comparison: Udonis Haslem/Grant Williams
ROLE: Versatile power forward and small ball four
BEST TOOLS: Basketball IQ/Shooting/Hustle

Liddell is a winning player that can instantly play a role on a playoff team. The Bulls are set in the backcourt with DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball and are likely to resign Zach LaVine. They need depth up front and can use a player like Liddell.

19. MINNESOTA TIMEBERWOLVES
Jalen Williams-SG/SF-Santa Clara
6'6''/209/7'2.25''
18.0 PTS      4.4 REB        4.2 AST        39.6%-3PT    80.9%-FT
Jr./21.2
Hometown: Gilbert, AZ
NBA Comparison: Doug Christie/Taurean Prince
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/Low End Starting Forward
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Length/Defense

No one has improved their stock in the pre-draft process more than Williams. He measured well with an insane wingspan. He also tested very well athletically.
I had to compare him to another West Coast Conference legend in Doug Christie. Like Christie, Williams can use his length and versatility to become a good defender and role player. Minnesota has two elite scorers in Anthony Edwards and Karl Anthony Towns, they need to continue to add more defense on the perimeter.

20. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Nikola Jovic-CF-Serbia/KK Mega Basket
6'11''/223/7'0.25''
Adraatic League:      12.0 PTS      4.8 REB        3.6 AST
INT./19.0
Hometown: Belgrade
NBA Comparison: Hedo Türkoğlu/Dario Šarić
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/Average Starting Forward
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Wing Size/IQ

Jovic is a rising European prospect that was a water polo player before focusing on basketball in his late teens. He is an excellent passer for his size and brings good length for a wing. He was very skinny but looks to have put on some nice muscle to play at 220+ pounds. He doesn’t play physical though. With 3 picks in the first round, it is more than likely that the Spurs will draft a long-term international prospect and potentially keep him overseas for a year. The Spurs would be an ideal situation for Jovic.

21. DENVER NUGGETS
Malaki Branham-SG/SF-Ohio St
6'6''/194/6'10''
Fr./19.1
13.7 PTS      3.6 REB        41.6%-3PT    83.3%-FT
Hometown: Columbus, OH
NBA Comparison: Malik Beasley/Gary Harris
ROLE: Starting Wing Sharpshooter
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Hustle/Defense

The Nuggets need another scorer if they are to take the next step in competing for a title. Branham is another one and done prospect that is a very good shooter. He is not the biggest or greatest athlete, but he has a very good skill set. There is very little bust potential for Branham as he knows his role and knows when to pick his spots

22. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Jaden Hardy-SG-G League Ignite
6'4''/190/6'9''
17.7 PTS      4.6 REB        3.2 AST        1.3 STL
GL./20.6
Hometown: Detroit
NBA Comparison: Monta Ellis/Larry Hughes
ROLE: Instant offense bench player, Average Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/First Step/Playmaking

Hardy is a volume scorer that can become a good scorer in the NBA if he improves his long-range shooting. Eventually Memphis may need to decide on who to keep between Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane so having a shooting guard waiting in the wings makes a lot of sense for them. Hardy is also the best value here as well and may end up going as high as the late lottery.

23. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
MarJon Beauchamp-SG-G League Ignite
6'7''/197/ 7'0.25''
15.1 PTS      7.3 REB        2.5 AST        1.5 STL
GL/21.7
Hometown: Yakima, WA
NBA Comparison: Stephen Jackson/James Ennis
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/Starting Wing
BEST TOOLS: Length/Versatility/On Ball Defense

Beauchamp has taken a very interesting path to the 2022 draft. After playing high school in Washington for former NBA star Brandon Roy he decided to skip college and train for the 2020 draft. Then Covid hit the world and him personally and he contemplated giving up basketball. He then played at a JUCO and last year played well for G-League Ignite. He is the ultimate role player and showed his versatility and how he can play well alongside other great players on Ignite. The 76ers are I win now mode and Beauchamp is a player that can provide quality minutes as a rookie.

24. MILWAUKEE BUCKS
Walker Kessler-C-Auburn
7'1''/256/7'4.75''
So./20.9
11.4 PTS      8.1 REB        4.6 BLK
Hometown: Newnan, GA
NBA Comparison: Brendan Haywood/Jakob Poeltl
ROLE: Defensive Big Man/ Perfect second unit big man
BEST TOOLS: Elite Shot Blocker/Length/Defense

Kessler is a big man that knows exactly what he is on the court to do. He is a shot blocker and rebounder that can provide quality minutes off the bench. Brook Lopez is 34 and entering the last season of his contract and Bobby Portis is an unrestricted free agent. Kessler would help add some youth up front and really improve a team that wass average on defense and was bottom five in shot blocking.

25. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Blake Wesley-CG-Notre Dame
6'4''/187/6'9.25''
14.4 PTS      3.7 REB        2.4 AST
Fr./19.3
Hometown: South Bend, IN
NBA Comparison: Derrick White/E'Twaun Moore
ROLE: Instant offense bench player, Good 6th/7th man
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/IQ/First Step

Wesley profiles as a good combo guard that can be the scorer in a second unit. He brings a lot of energy and seems like a very good team player. We saw how important Derrick White was for the Celtics this postseason. Hopefully, Wesley can eventually have that type of impact on a contender. I have the Spurs going with forwards at picks 9 and 20 so a scoring guard here makes the most sense.

26. HOUSTON ROCKETS
Kendall Brown-SF-Baylor
6'8''/201/6'11''
9.7 PTS        4.9 REB        1.9 AST        1.0 STL
Fr./19.1
Hometown: Cottage Grove, MN
NBA Comparison: Derrick Jones Jr./Jeremy Evans
ROLE: Energy guy off the bench
BEST TOOLS: Elite Leaping Skills/Off Ball Cutting

Brown has a 41-inch vertical and knows how to move without the ball to get open dunks and put backs. The problem is that is the main thing to his game right now. He isn’t a playmaker or scorer, but he can hit an open three. He is slender, but he can rebound well for his size. The team drafting him will need to be patient with his development.

27. MIAMI HEAT
Dalen Terry-SF/SG/PG-Arizona
6'7''/195/ 7'0.75''
8.0 PTS        4.8 REB        3.9 AST        1.2 STL
So./19.9
Hometown: Phoenix
NBA Comparison: Corey Brewer/John Salmons
ROLE: Energy guy off the bench that can play point in a second unit
BEST TOOLS: Energy/Defense/Hustle/Playmaking

Terry is a very interesting prospect given his size and skill set. He can’t really score be he can do a little bit of everything else. He will likely be drafted by a team in the 20s that can use a quality bench player that can take them to the next level. Terry is exactly the type of tough and versatile player that Pat Riley just loves.

28. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Christian Koloko-C-Arizona
7'0''/221/7'5.25''
12.6 PTS      7.3 REB        2.8 BLK
Jr./22.0
Hometown: Douala, Cameroon
NBA Comparison: Gorgui Dieng/ Andris Biedriņš
ROLE: Energy big on second unit
BEST TOOLS: Length/Mobility/Defense

The Champions get insurance in case Kevon Looney leaves via free agency and in case James Wiseman gets injured again. The size and athletic ability
of Koloko give him a chance to be drafted in the first round. He can become a productive role player if he is able to get a little stronger. He could be a solid backup center right away.

29. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Patick Baldwin-PF-Wisconsin Milwaukee
6'10''/231/7'1.72''
12.0 PTS      8.1 REB        2.1 BLK
Fr./19.6
Hometown: Sussex, WI
NBA Comparison: Brian Cook/Kelly Olynyk
ROLE: Good Bench Player
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Hustle/BBall IQ

Baldwin may be the most interesting prospect in the entire draft. He was a top 5 high school player but underwhelmed in one year in college. He has a very good fundamentally sound offensive game. However, he is not a great athlete as evidenced by his combine low 25 in max vert. He is also a very finesse player right now. Baldwin would be a nice piece off the bench for Memphis.

30. DENVER NUGGETS
Kennedy Chandler-PG-Tennessee
6'0''/173/6'5.25''
13.9 PTS      3.2 REB        4.7 AST        2.2 STL
Fr./19.8
Hometown: Memphis
NBA Comparison: Shane Larkin/Speedy Claxton
ROLE: Starting Point Guard or high-end bench player
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Defense/Hustle

Chandler was arguably the best athlete at the Combine as he posted the top vertical jump at 41.5 inches, finished second in the shuttle run and fifth in the lane agility drill. He is a good playmaker that can eventually become a starting point guard but given his lack of size may be destined to be a high end backup similar to Larkin and Claxton. Current backup point guard Monte Morris is rumored to be traded some time this summer. Chandler could get minutes as a rookie if this were to happen.

SECOND ROUND

31. INDIANA PACERS
Jake LaRavia-CF-Wake Forest
6'8''/227/6'9''
14.6 PTS      6.6 REB        3.7 AST        1.7 STL         38.3%-3PT
Jr./20.6
Hometown: Indianapolis
NBA Comparison: Luke Walton/Jared Dudley
ROLE: 3 and D Bench Wing
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Defense/Long Range Shooting
LaRiva transferred from Indiana State to Wake Forest and actually had better stats in the ACC. He is just a good all-around player that provides physical hard-nosed defense, passing and shooting. Like Walton and Dudley he will never be an All Star but he as a chance to stick around in the league for a long time.

32. ORLANDO MAGIC
Wendell Moore-SF-Duke
6'6''/217/7'0.75''
13.4 PTS      5.3 REB        4.4 AST        41.3%-3PT    80.5%-FT
Jr./20.7
Hometown: Charlotte
NBA Comparison: Alec Burks/Gerald Henderson Jr.
ROLE: 3 and D Bench Wing
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Playmaking/Defense
Moore has a large range on where he might get picked. I have seen him mocked in the late lottery all the way to the mid second round. He broke out his Junior year as improved dramatically as a playmaker and scorer. He should be a very good role player like Burks and Henderson. The Magic place value on length and shooting so Moore would be an ideal target here.

33. TORONTO RAPTORS\
Andrew Nembhard-PG-Gonzaga
6'5''/196/6'5.75''
11.8 PTS      5.8 AST        3.4 REB        1.6 STL
Sr./22.4
Hometown: Aurora, Ontario Canada
NBA Comparison:  Kirk Hinrich/ Ryan Arcidiacono
ROLE: Backup Point Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Leadership/IQ
The Raptors get a good backup guard that is from just outside of Toronto. Nembhard has proven to be a winner and was the true point guard on a Gonzaga teams filled with NBA talent. He will be undervalued because he is not an elite athlete or scorer. He is one of the older prospects in the draft. But we may look back in five years and wonder why he wasn’t rated higher.

34. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Trevor Keels-CG-Duke
6'5''/224/6'7.25''
11.5 PTS      3.4 REB        2.7 AST        1.2 STL
Fr./18.8
Hometown: Clinton, MD
NBA Comparison: Dion Waiters/Isaiah Whitehead
ROLE: Backup Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Physical Guard/Playmaking/IQ
Keels surprised some people by staying in the draft after not testing well athletically at the combine. At Duke he was not asked to be the offensive facilitator, but he has very good playmaking skills. He is a big and physical guard that is built more like a NFL linebacker than a NBA guard.

35. LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Christian Braun-SG/SF-Kansas
6'7''/209/6'6.5''
14.1 PTS      6.5 REB        2.8 AST        38.3%-3PT
Jr./21.1
Hometown: Burlington, KS
NBA Comparison: Chase Budinger/Pat Connaughton
ROLE: 3 and D Bench Wing
BEST TOOLS: Athleticism/Defense/Long Range Shooting
Braun tested very well at the combine posting a 41-inch vertical and a top 10 time in the sprint. He was the second-best player on Kansas’ title team. The hope is he lands with a contender like Connaughton where he can be a serviceable bench player. The Lakers traded to get back into the draft and the one thing we know is that they will be looking for a player that can contribute right away.

36. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
David Roddy-CF-Colorado St
6'6"/261/6'11.5''
19.2 PTS      7.5 REB        2.9 AST        1.1 BLK        1.2 STL
Jr./21.2
Hometown: Arlington Heights, IL
NBA Comparison: Glen “Big Baby” Davis/Craig Smith
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Power/Scoring
Roddy has the body of an NFL defensive end but plays like a guard on offense. Scouts will still want him to trim down a bit more to play more minutes at the next level. He gives you a bit of everything and can become a nice rotation player.

37. SACRAMENTO KINGS
Caleb Houstan-SF-Michigan
6'8''/205
10.0 PTS      4.0 REB        35.5%-3PT    78.3%-FT
Fr./19.4
Hometown: Mississauga, ON
NBA Comparison: Malachi Richardson/James Young
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Leadership/ Basketball IQ
There is a chance that Houstan can outplay his two comparisons but the track record for slender one and done shooters is not great. It also should not be an insult to him as both Richardson and Young had better college production that Houstan. He could eventually be an ideal replacement for Harrison Barnes on the Kings.

38. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Bryce McGowens-SG-Nebraska
6'7''/181/6'8.75''
16.8 PTS      5.2 REB        1.4 AST
Fr./19.6
Hometown: Pendleton, SC
NBA Comparison: Chris Douglas-Roberts/Kerry Kittles
ROLE: Instant offense bench player, Good 6th/7th man
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/First Step/Toughness
McGowens is a slender bucker getter that can be a very good role player. He knows how to get to the rim and finish with contact. He is not a great defender or passer and given his lack of size cannot be expected to play small forward.

39. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Max Christie-SG-Michigan St.
6'6''/189/6'8.75''
9.3 PTS        3.5 REB        82.4%-FT
Fr./19.4
Hometown: Arlington Heights, IL
NBA Comparison: Kelly Oubre/Jeremy Lamb
ROLE: Backup Shooting Guard with starting potential
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Athleticism/Shooting
Christie was a highly touted high school player that did not produce very high numbers in his one year at Michigan St. He has a very nice shooting stroke and shot the ball well from the charity stripe. However, he struggled shooting from three and given his lack of size may have trouble creating his own shot in the league. He has nearly identical size and athleticism to both Oubre and Lamb. Like those guys, he is destined to be a starter on a bad team or a very good backup.

40. MINNESOTA TIMEBERWOLVES
Justin Lewis-CF-Marquette
6'8"/235/7'2.5''
16.8 PTS      7.9 REB        1.1 STL
So./20.2
Hometown: Baltimore
NBA Comparison: Larry Nance Jr./Quincy Acy
BEST TOOLS: Rebounding/Length/Scoring
Lewis can really rebound and on the right team could fit as a scoring option off the bench. He showed incredible improvement from his from his Freshman to Sophomore seasons as he improved in every statistical category and was the best player on his team. He could potentially be this year’s Herb Jones.

41. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
Gabriele Procida-SG/SF-Italy/Bologna
6'8”/193/6'8''
Italian League:   7.0 PTS     3.0 REB      38.3%-3PT    78.4%-FT
INT./20.1

NBA Comparison: Marco Belinelli
BEST TOOLS:  Shooting/Athleticism/Versatility
The Pelicans have 13 players under contract for next season so it would not be a surprise if they went with an international player here and stashed him for the future. He has great size for a wing and a very nice shooting stroke.

42. NEW YORK KNICKS
Josh Minott-CF-Memphis
6'8''/205/6'11''
6.6 PTS        3.8 REB
Fr./20.4
Hometown: Boca Raton, FL
NBA Comparison: Tony Snell/Darius Bazley
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Defense/Mobility/Scoring Potential
Minott has good physical tools and a very good feel for the game. His per 36-minute averages of 16.2 PTS, 9.2 REB, 2.3 AST, 1.6 BLK and 2.0 STL show his production upside. He played only 14.6 minutes per game, and he fell out Penny Hardaway’s rotation late in the season. There are some concerns, but his upside is as good as any player in the second round.

43. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Ryan Rollins-SG-Toledo
6'3''/179/6'9.75''
18.9 PTS      6.0 REB        3.6 AST        1.7 STL
So./20.0
Hometown: Macomb, MI
NBA Comparison: Gary Payton II/Norris Cole
ROLE: High Level Bench Player
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Mid-Range Shooting/Length
Rollins is a small school prospect that would have a good chance to make the Clippers roster and even play in the second unit. I compare him to two guys that won NBA titles. The Clippers would love it if Rollins could have an impact like Payton II or Cole.

44. ATLANTA HAWKS
Jean Montero-CG-Overtime Elite
6'2''/173/6'5.25''
OT/18.9
Hometown: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic m
NBA Comparison: Dennis Schröder/Jordan Farmar
ROLE: Backup Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/First Step/Speed
Montero is one of the quickest players in the class and can get anywhere he wants to on the court. He is not a true point guard but has the skill set to play both guard spots. He will need to work on his jump shot and get physically stronger in order to stick in the league. He could become a good backup to Trae Young.

45. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Jaylin Williams-PF-Arkansas
6′10”/237/7′1”
10.9 PTS      9.8 REB        2.6 AST        1.1 BLK        1.3 STL
So./19.9
Hometown: Fort Smith, AR
NBA Comparison: Andrew Nicholson/Patrick Patterson
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Rebounding/Hustle

Williams is a very well-rounded player that surprised a lot of people by turning pro this season. He could sneak into the first and become a very good role player.

46. DETROIT PISTONS
Ismael Kamagate-C-France/Paris BB
6'11''/220/7'3''
French League: 12.6 PTS     7.3 REB     2.8 BLK
INT/21.4
Hometown: Paris
NBA Comparison: Andrson Varejao/Nerlens Noel
ROLE: High End Backup Big
BEST TOOLS: Length/Defense
Kamagate could carve out a role on the right team as a defensive center. He would need to be the 5th option offensively.

47. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
JD Davison-CG-Alabama
6'3”/192/6'6.5''

Fr./19.7
Hometown: Latohatchee, AL
NBA Comparison:  Dennis Smith Jr./Willie Warren                                                                   BEST TOOLS: Elite Athleticism/Playmaking
Davison is a strong athletic guard that was a top prospect coming into college. He was not the most productive player, but he flashed playmaking skills that can convert to the NBA. He will likely need some time in the G League though.

48. MINNESOTA TIMEBERWOLVES
Michael Foster-CF-G League Ignite
6'9''/237/7'0.25''
16.3 PTS      10.4 REB
Fr./19.8
Hometown: Milwaukee
NBA Comparison: Terrence Jones/Leon Powe
BEST TOOLS: Energy/Power/Rebounding
Foster is tweener in the sense that he has the skill set of a high energy wing but the body of a physical post player. He can score down low and can rebound at a high level too.

49. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Yannick Nzosa-C-Congo
|6'11''/215/7'6''
INT/18.6
Hometown: Kinshasa, DR Congo
NBA Comparison: John Henson/Lucas Nogueira
BEST TOOLS: Length/Mobility/Shot Blocking Potential
His 7’6” wingspan and mobility give him a chance at getting drafted. However, given his very young age and the fact that he only played 10 minutes per game at Málaga in Spain make him a long-term project. The Cavs have enough depth up front to be patient with his development.

50. MINNESOTA TIMEBERWOLVES
Hugo Besson-France-CG
6'6''/180/6'5.5''
13.9 PTS      4.0 REB        2.3 AST
INT./21.2
Hometown: Angers, France
NBA Comparison:  Rudy Fernández/Smush Parker
ROLE: Backup Combo Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Height for a Guard
Besson is a flashy guard that can have an impact on the game in a lot of ways. He is a defensive liability right now, but he showed a lot of toughness at the combine. He will need to work on his jump shot and get physically stronger in order to stick in the league.

51. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Jabari Walker-CF-Colorado

14.6 PTS      9.4 REB
So./19.9
Hometown: Inglewood, CA
NBA Comparison: Ivan Rabb/Damion James
BEST TOOLS: Rebounding/Versatility/Defense
Walker saw his playing time and production double in his second season at Colorado. He has a chance to make a NBA roster if he can continue to show his value as a role player that can rebound and defend.

52. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
Matteo Spagnolo-CG-Italy/Cremona

INT./19.7
Hometown: Brindisi, Italy
BEST TOOLS:  Shooting/Playmaking
Spagnolo is a lights out shooter that will need to improve his playmaking and defense in order to make a NBA roster.

53. BOSTON CELTICS
Julian Champagnie-SF-St. John's
6'8''/212/6'10''
19.2 PTS      6.6 REB        2.0 AST        1.1 BLK        2.0 STL
Jr./21.0
Hometown: Brooklyn, NYC
NBA Comparison: Torrey Craig
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Defense/Versatility
Champagnie’s stats pretty much speak for themselves and show what he can do on a basketball court. Though he lacks optimal athleticism and may be too small to play power forward at the next level.

54. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Peyton Watson-SF-UCLA
6'8''/203/7'0.5''
3.3 PTS        2.9 REB
Fr./19.8
Hometown: Los Angeles
NBA Comparison: Tyler Honeycutt/Jarred Vanderbilt
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Defense/Length/Scoring Potential
Watson was the number 8 prospect in the country coming into the season but had a very unproductive season where he barely cracked the Bruins rotation. He is a pure potential pick that has the physical tools for a small forward.

55. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Dereon Seabron-SG/SF-NC St.

17.3 PTS      8.2 REB        3.2 AST        1.4 STL
So./22.1
Hometown: Norfolk, VA
NBA Comparison: Patrick McCaw
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Playmaking/Versatility

Seabron is on the light side for a wing. but he makes up for it with tough play. He can really get to the rim and is an excellent rebounder.

56. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Ron Harper Jr.-CF-Rutgers

15.8 PTS      5.9 REB        1.0 STL
Sr./22.3
Hometown: Franklin Lakes, NJ
NBA Comparison: Ryan Gomes
BEST TOOLS: Power/Length/Defense
Harper is a strong combo forward that will need to prove that he can guard the 2-4 to have a place in the NBA. Harper Sr. was a star on the Cavs in the late 80s and early 90s.

57. PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
Dom Barlow-PF-Overtime Elite
6'10''/221/7'3''
OT/19.1
Hometown: Dumont, NJ
NBA Comparison: Donte Greene/Marquese Chriss
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Athletic Ability
Barlow is a finesse stretch four that basically came out of nowhere and is now a borderline draft pick. The track record for these types of prospects is journeyman role player at best. Maybe he is the exception and gets drafted by the perfect organization.

58. INDIANA PACERS

Trevion Williams-PF-Purdue
6′9”/265/7′2.75”

NBA Comparison: Brad Miller/Jared Sullinger
BEST TOOLS: Passing/Versatility/IQ
Williams is very similar to another former Purdue great in Miller. Both are incredible passers for their size. Williams faces the same uphill climb that Miller had after going undrafted in 1998. Mille became a two time All Star. That may be lofty for Williams but I think he makes a NBA roster next year and can contribute in limited minutes. Fans in Indy would love him.
