2021 NBA DRAFT: MOCK DRAFT

FIRST ROUND

1. DETROIT PISTONS
Cade Cunningham-CG/SF-OK St
6'8.0''/220/7'0'' wingspan
20.5 PTS      6.3 REB        3.5 AST        41.2%-3PT
Fr./19.8
Hometown: Arlington, TX
Best Case NBA Comparison: Prime Grant Hill
Likely NBA Comparison: Joe Johnson/Brandon Roy
ROLE: Franchise Player with Superstar Potential that can play both guard spots and small forward
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Playmaking/Shooting/Length
Cunningham has a point guards skill set in a forward’s body. He is already physically and mentally ready for the NBA at such a young age. He is the clear-cut number one pick and has very few weaknesses for such a young player. He should be able to come in the league and have an instant impact.

The toughest thing that Cunningham will need to overcome is the high expectations of being the number one pick and playing for a team that is completely rebuilding. In interviews Cunningham has stated that he is excited to play in Detroit. He would be an ideal fit next to defensive stopper Jerami Grant and young slasher Saddiq Bey. The Pistons lack a great point guard, so my guess is that they start Cunningham there from day one.

2. HOUSTON ROCKETS
Jalen Green-SG-G League Ignite
6'5''/180/6'7.5''
17.9 PTS      4.1 REB        36.5%-3PT    82.9%-FT
GL/19.5
Hometown: Fresno, CA
Best Case NBA Comparison: Shorter Paul George
Likely NBA Comparison: Jamal Crawford/JR Smith
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Elite Athletic Ability/Playmaking
The last time the Rockets ended up with the player drafted at #2 it was in 1999. They traded up and took a playmaking athletic freak named Steve Francis. Green is cut from the same mold even though the two players have very different body types. With Green and Kevin Porter Jr. the Rockets have two very athletic and exciting young players. They should provide many highlight dunks which should remind people in Houston of Phi Slama Jama.

Green proved that he could score against grown men in the G-League last year so that is very encouraging for his NBA projection. Green is a great scorer that knows how use his elite athletic ability to create his own shot. If Green were 6’8” instead of 6’5” he would be the clear number two prospect and could even challenge Cunningham for #1. Green only worked out for Houston and Detroit so many speculate that he as top 2 lock.

3. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Evan Mobley-PF/C-USC
7′ 0”/215/7′4”
16.4 PTS      8.7 REB        2.9 BLK
Fr./20.1
Hometown: Murietta, CA
Best Case NBA Comp: Prime Chris Bosh
Likely NBA Comparison: Marcus Camby/Bam Adebayo
ROLE: Franchise Big Man Perennial/All-Defensive Team Player/#3 Scorer on a contender
BEST TOOLS: Elite Shot Blocking and Defensive Presence/Mid-Range Shooting
Mobley is the perfect versatile big man for today’s NBA. He was very productive in at USC where he won PAC 12 Player of the Year and leading USC to the Elite Eight. He has the size and skill set to start at center and power forward. He is one of the safest picks in the draft because at worst he projects as an elite defender at the next level. On offense, he has a nice jump shot and decent perimeter skills.

He should go no lower than the Cavs at #3. The Rockets may take him at #2 or there could be a team with multiple picks looking to trade up like the Thunder or Magic. The Cavs only have this one pick, so they are more likely to trade down than other lottery teams. However, I think Mobley is the prospect they want most. Given their need and his fit, they may have even drafted him if they had the #1 pick.

4. TORONTO RAPTORS

Scottie Barnes-CF-FSU
6'8.0''/222/7'2.75''
10.3 PTS      4.0 REB        4.1 AST        1.5 STL
Fr./19.9
Hometown: West Palm Beach, FL
Best Case NBA Comparison: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Likely NBA Comparison: Shawn Marion/Draymond Green
ROLE: Elite Defender and Versatile Player
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Playmaking/Length/Winning Intangibles
Barnes has clearly established himself among the elite prospects after a great season in college and an even better showing at the combine and workouts. Barnes might be the versatile player in the class as he can guard all five positions and on offense can play as a point forward. i think on the right team he can have a great impact as a Marion/Green do everything glue guy.

Barnes is a guy that fits perfect with the Raptors culture built on defense, versatility, and toughness.
The Raptors could also draft Jalen Suggs at #4 as he would be the successor to free agent Kyle Lowry. The Raptors are involved in a lot of trade rumors as they have been rumored to move Pascal Siakim and have also been rumored to be interested in Ben Simmons. I could also see the Thunder trading up two spots to get Barnes here.

5. ORLANDO MAGIC
Jalen Suggs-PG-Gonzaga
6-4/205/6'5''
14.4 PTS      4.5 AST        5.3 REB
Fr./20.1
Hometown: Saint Paul, MN
Best Case NBA Comparison: Chauncey Billups
Likely NBA Comparison: Jrue Holiday/Baron Davis
ROLE: Elite Starting Point Guard
BEST TOOLS: Size for a guard/Playmaking/On Ball Defense
Suggs has everything one looks for in a point guard in today’s NBA. He brings size, playmaking, and is a great defender. He played a major part in Gonzaga’s near perfect season and had the shot of the tournament in the semifinals. The former quarterback brings elite intangibles such as leadership and toughness. After seeing the impact Jrue Holiday had on the Bucks winning the title, it is easy to see how important a physical defense guard is.

The Magic have a group of young guards in Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton and Markelle Fultz (still only 23) but Suggs has good chance to be better than any of them long term. Suggs may be the safest prospect in this class given his size and willingness as a defender.

6. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
James Bouknight-SG-UConn
6'4.75''/190/6'8.25''
So./20.8
18.7 PTS      5.7 REB
Hometown: Brooklyn, NYC
NBA Comparison: Tim Hardaway Jr./Jordan Clarkson
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard that would be an ideal #2/3 option on a good team
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Elite Athletic Ability/Ball Handling
Bouknight knows how to use his elite athletic tools to get to the basket at will. He is a walking bucket getter that can score in a variety of ways. He is a little slender, but he makes up for it by playing with toughness and confidence.

The Brooklyn native could end up being mentored by fellow NYC and UConn legend Kemba Walker. Bouknight could be an immediate impact guy with OKC’s second unit. Bouknight and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would form a nice backcourt of the future. Kuminga is a higher rated player but they a very similar player to Kuminga in Darius Bazley.

7. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Josh Giddey-CG/SF-Adelaide 36ers/NBL
6'8''/205/6'8''
INT/18.8
10.8 PTS      7.4 AST        7.4 REB
Hometown: Melbourne, Australia
NBA Comparison: Tomáš Satoranský/Shaun Livingston
ROLE: Starting Point Guard but not a primary scorer
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Basketball IQ/Passing
I personally would take Mosey Moody here, but I am buying the rumors of Giddey to the Warriors because of the fit. He has the ideal size and vision to play the Shaun Livingston role in the second unit. Most importantly he could ease the ball handling workload of Steph Curry. This of course is assuming that the Warriors don’t trade this pick as part of a package for a proven veteran like Bradley Beal, Pascal Siakim or Myles Turner.

Giddey had a good year in his single season at the top level of the NBL in Australia. Scouts know he has the height and playmaking skills. He is probably the riskiest lottery pick in this draft but his upside as a playmaker is only matched by Cade Cunningham.

8. ORLANDO MAGIC
Jonathan Kuminga-CF-G League Ignite
6'8''/225/7'0''
15.8 PTS      7.2 REB        2.7 AST
GL/18.6
Hometown: Kinshasa, DR Congo
Best Case NBA Comparison: Luol Deng
Likely NBA Comparison: TJ Warren/Tim Thomas
ROLE: Starting combo forward and #2/3 scoring option
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Rebounding/Mid Range Shooting
Kuminga has all the athletic traits and the skill set that scouts look for in a prospect. He has the size and versatility to play both forward spots. He is a tough player that seems to enjoy doing the dirty work of rebounding and defending. Given his versatility, there is not much bust potential in my opinion. There will be a place for him in the league for the next 15 years.

This would be an ideal pick for the Magic as they may even consider Kumiunga at #5. The Magic are in a full rebuild after trading Nik Vucevic, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon at the trade deadline. Kuminga has a similar body type and athletic ability to Gordon though I think he is a more willing defender.

9. SACRAMENTO KINGS
Franz Wagner-CF-Michigan
6'9''/220/6'8''
So./19.9 yrs
12.5 PTS      6.5 REB        83.5%-FT      1.3 STL
Hometown: Berlin, Germany
NBA Comparison: Chanler Parsons/Mike Dunleavy Jr.
ROLE: Starting Combo Forward
BEST TOOLS: Defensive Versatility/Rebounding/Basketball IQ
Wagner does a little bit of everything as a player. His college scoring numbers don’t jump off the page, but they were solid considering he was the third option on a good team. He is one of the safer picks in the draft and would fit nice on pretty much any team

He would be an ideal fit in Sacramento as they already have great offensive players in De'Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton. Wagner gives the Kings the toughness they need as a rebounder and defender. He can come in right away and backup at both forward spots

10. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
(TRADE)
Moses Moody-SG/SF-Arkansas
6'6''/211/7'0.75''
Fr./19.2
16.8 PTS      5.8 REB        35.8%-3PT    81.2%-FT
Hometown: Little Rock, AK
Best Case NBA Comparison: Devin Booker
Likely NBA Comparison: Khris Middleton/Nick Anderson
ROLE: Elite Starting Shooting Guard or Small Forward
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Length/Defense/Shooting
Memphis is an ideal landing spot for Moody who would thrive as a catch and shoot player next to Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks. Memphis may even trade up again to get him. He checks every box on what one looks for in a wing prospect. In his one year at Arkansas, he was the best player and go to scorer on a top 10 team. The Arkansas native could end up in playing near home in Memphis.

11. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Kai Jones-C-Texas
6'11.5''/221/7'1.75''
So./20.5
8.8 PTS        4.8 REB        1.1 BLK
Hometown: Nassau, Bahamas
NBA Comparison: Nerlens Noel/Chris Wilcox
ROLE: High Energy Defensive Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Shot Blocking/On the ball Defense.
Jones is very raw but is an ideal fit with LaMelo Ball and the Hornets. The term athletic freak applies to Jones in every way possible. He is a former track star from the Bahamas that has can run the court as well as any big man in the NBA. He could start at center but given his offensive limitations he is likely to be a role player.

12. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Alperen Sengun-C-Besiktas/Turkey
6'10''/240
INT/19.0
19.0 PTS      8.7 REB        2.7 AST  (Turkish Basketball Super League)
Hometown: Giresun
NBA Comparison: Luis Scola/Nic Vucevic
ROLE: Franchise Big Man/Potential 20 &10 guy
BEST TOOLS: Interior Scoring/Rebounding/Power
The Spurs are in an interesting spot as they seem to be moving in a younger direction. They have a ton of cap space but it appears they will probably let DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay and Patty Mills walk in free agency.

Sengun is the best player on the board and would be a great fit in San Antonio. He recently
worked out with the Spurs and the fits what they look for in a prospect. Sengun might be the most physical and dominant young prospect to ever come out of Europe. In an era where modern big men are seen as defenders and court spacers on offense it is nice to see a young player with an advanced offensive skill set.

13. INDIANA PACERS

Jalen Johnson-CF-Duke
6'9.25''/210/7'0.25''
Fr.19.6 yrs
11.2 PTS      6.1 REB        2.2 AST        1.2 BLK        1.2 STL
Hometown: Milwaukee
NBA Comparison: Jerami Grant/Tim Thomas
ROLE: Starting Combo Forward
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Athletic Ability/Versatility
Johnson has ideal length and the ability to defend full court. On offense he knows how to use his athletic gifts to get to the rim and he is also a good passer for a forward. His shooting numbers were a little weird as he shot well from 3 (44%) but shot horribly from the free throw line (63%).  He could be a long-term asset for the Pacers but given that new coach Rick Carlisle want to win now, it is more likely they trade this pick. Both the Rockets (picks #23 and #24) and Thunder (picks #16 and #18) have the ambition to move up and take Johnson here.

14. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
Corey Kispert-SG/SF-Gonzaga
6'7.25''/224/6'7''
Sr./22.4
18.6 PTS      5.0 REB        44.1%-3PT    87.8%-FT
Hometown: Edmonds, WA
NBA Comparison: Kyle Korver/ Wally Szczerbiak
ROLE: Starting Wing Sharpshooter
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Defense/Hustle
Kispert was arguably the best shooter in college basketball the past two seasons. He is NBA ready both physically and mentally. He may not have the upside of many other projected lottery picks, but scouts know exactly what they are getting with him. My guess is that the Warriors (if they don’t make any trades) take a high upside guy at #7 and then go with a safer NBA ready guy at #14.

15. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Davion Mitchell-CG-Baylor
6'1.25''/202/6'4.25''
Jr./22.8
14.0 PTS      5.5 AST        1.9 STL
Hometown: Hinesville, GA
NBA Comparison: Joe Dumars/Stronger Avery Bradley
ROLE: Starting Combo guard and potential All Defensive Player
BEST TOOLS: Elite Defender/Playmaking/Leadership/Hustle
Mitchell is the type of gritty player that is easy to root for. He was the story of the NCAA tournament as he led Baylor to a National Title. He is a great competitor and is good an on-ball defender as we have seen. His upside is limited due to his age and lack of size, but he should be a great pro.

With all the uncertainty of the future of Bradley Beal, Washington needs to think about adding a young guard that can play behind Beal and Russell Westbrook. The Wizards were DEAD LAST in defense in the NBA last year giving up 118.5 points per game. Mitchell is the type of defender that the Wizards desperately could use.

16. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Usman Garuba-PF/C-Real Madrid/Spain
6'8''/230/7'2''
INT/19.4
Hometown: Madrid
NBA Comparison: Tristan Thompson/Kevon Looney
ROLE: High Energy Defensive Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Hustle/Rebounding/Power
Garuba is the perfect size as a starting power forward, however like Thompson and Looney he would be best utilized as a small ball center. Garuba already has an NBA frame and will instantly contribute on the glass. His shooting must improve but he does have nice form on his shot. After going with a scoring guard at #6 the Thunder add much needed help to a defense that ranked 26th in points allowed.

17. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
(TRADE)
Chris Duarte-SG-Oregon
6'6"/190/6'7''
Sr./24.1
17.1 PTS      4.6 REB        42.4%-3PT    81.0%-FT
Hometown: Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic
NBA Comparison: Francisco Garcia/Courtney Lee
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Hustle/Basketball IQ
The Pelicans get a much needed long range shooter. The Pelicans need guys to space the floor to maximize Zion Williamson. A lot is being made of Duarte’s age as he is already 24, but he is ready to help a contender right now. He is a great catch and shoot prospect. He does have some Reggie Miller to his game with his ability to run off screens and hit shots.

I am most proud of my player comparisons for Duarte. Garcia and Lee were both very productive shooters coming out of college and like Duarte they slid a little bit due to their older draft age. Both were picked in the range that Duarte was chosen. Lee was taken at #22 in 2008 and Garcia was taken at #23 in 2005. Garcia is also from the Dominican Republic. Both Garcia and Lee had long NBA careers and Duarte should too despite any age concerns.

18. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Keon Johnson-SG-Tennessee
6'4.75''/185/6'7.25''
Fr./19.3
11.3 PTS      3.5 REB        1.1 STL
Hometown: Shelbyville, TN
NBA Comparison: Leandro Barbosa/Ricky Davis
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard and top defender
BEST TOOLS: Elite Athletic Ability/Defense/Hustle
Johnson set the combine record with his vertical of 48 inches. The term explosiveness is the best way to describe what he will bring to a team. He should be very good on defense, but scouts wonder if he can develop a consistent jump shot. I have the Thunder improving the defense even more after taking Garuba at #16.

19. NEW YORK KNICKS
Cameron Thomas-SG-LSU
6'4''/210
Fr./19.7
23.0 PTS      3.4 REB        88.2%-FT      33.5%-3PT
Hometown:  Chesapeake, VA
NBA Comparison: Eric Gordon/Rodney Stuckey
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/Low End Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: High Level Scoring/Mid Range Shooting
Thomas is simply a bucket getter that has an uncanny knack for getting to the free throw line. He is not a great athlete which is the real why he will need to carve out a Gordon/Stuckey role as a secondary scorer. He would fit perfectly on the Knicks as they need depth on the wings and need guys that can create their own offense.

20. ATLANTA HAWKS
Sharife Cooper-PG-Auburn
6'1''/180
Fr./20.1
20.2 PTS      8.1 AST        4.3 REB
Hometown: Powder Springs, GA
NBA Comparison: Brandon Jennings/TJ Ford
ROLE: High End backup Point Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Scoring/Elite Ball Handling
The Hawks really have no major needs so adding basically a lesser version of Trae Young may be the smart move here in case Young gets injured again. Cooper is a local kid that is a true point guard. He is an ambidextrous dribbler and finisher. He is great in the pick in roll and can hit a mid range shot. That is very important considering he was horrible from downtown.

21. NEW YORK KNICKS
Trey Murphy-SF/PF-Virginia
6'9.25''/206/7'0''
Jr./21.1
11.3 PTS      92.7%-FT      43.3%-3PT
Hometown: Durham, NC
NBA Comparison: Robert Covington/James Posey
ROLE: Starting Combo Forward
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Shooting
The Knicks get arguably the best shooter in the draft and a guy that can help them contend right away. Murphy is a perfect fit in today’s NBA with his combination of defense and shooting skills. This year he posted shooting splits of 50/40/90 and for his college career his splits were 46/40/82.

22. LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Jared Butler-CG-Baylor
6'3.75''/193/6'4.0''
Jr./21.8
16.7 PTS      4.8 AST        2.0 STL
Hometown: Reserve, LA
NBA Comparison: Ben Gordon/Nolan Smith
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man/Low End Starting Shooting Guard
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Defense/Hustle
The Lakers will take the best player available that is NBA ready if they keep this pick. Butler was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player (MOP) after leading Baylor to National Title. He was the leading scorer on the team and projects as an instant offense guard at the next level. He has some size and athletic limitations so the right fit will be very important. Dennis Schroder and Alex Caruso are both free agents and it is unlikely the Lakers keep both.

23. HOUSTON ROCKETS
Ziaire Williams-SF-Stanford
6'9.75"/188/ 6'10.25''
Fr.19.8
10.7 PTS      4.6 REB        2.2 AST
Hometown: Lancaster, CA
NBA Comparison: Austin Daye/Trevor Ariza
ROLE: Starting Small Forward/Solid 6th or 7th Man
BEST TOOLS: Length/Slashing Skills
Williams was rated the #6 prospect according to RSCI but he failed to meet the high expectations in his one year at Stanford. He has all the skills one looks for in a prospect but will need time to bulk up and gain confidence at the next level. The Rockers are in a complete rebuild so Williams will have time to develop if drafted there.

24. HOUSTON ROCKETS
Day'Ron Sharpe-C-UNC
6'11''/265/7'0''
Fr./19.8
9.5 PTS        7.6 REB
Hometown: Greenville, NC
NBA Comparison: Dewayne Dedmon/Erick Dampier
ROLE: Low End Starter/High End Backup Center
BEST TOOLS: Power/Rebounding/Low Post Scoring
After going with two slender wings the Rockets add some girth in the middle with Sharpe. He has the best combination of power, skill, and length in this draft. If this were the 1990’s he would be a top 15 pick. He could go this high, but given the league’s shift to smaller more athletic big men, he may slip on draft night.

25. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Isaiah Jackson-PF/C-Kentucky
6'10.5''/206/7'3''
Fr./19.5
8.4 PTS        6.6 REB        2.6 BLK
Hometown: Detroit
NBA Comparison: John Henson/Samuel Dalembert
ROLE: Rim Protecting and Rim Running Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Shot Blocking/Rebounding/Length
If Jackson is to have any impact in the NBA, it will be as a shot blocker. His weakness is his very slight frame. Like Henson, he will be more of a four than a five so the team that drafts him will need to pair him with a stronger big. The Clippers need more depth up front. Jackson can have an immediate impact as a shot blocker.

26. DENVER NUGGETS
Tre Mann-CG-Florida
6'4.25''/178/6'4''
So./20.4
16.0 PTS      5.6 REB        3.5 AST
Hometown: Gainesville, FL
NBA Comparison: Brandon Knight/Austin Rivers
ROLE: Instant offense bench player, Great 6th/7th man
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Elite Ball Handling/Mid Range Shooting
Like fellow Floridians in Knight and Rivers, Mann is a great isolation scorer that has a knack for getting smooth buckets. Mann is an ideal fit to replace Will Barton at shooting guard in Denver. He can hit shots off the dribble and can space the floor. The Nuggets need another scorer if they are to take the next step in competing for a title.

27. BROOKLYN NETS
Jaden Springer-SG-Tennessee
6'4.25''/202/6'7.75''
Fr./18.8
12.5 PTS      1.2 STL         81.0%-FT      43.5%-3PT
Hometown: Charlotte
NBA Comparison: Gary Harris/Daequan Cook
ROLE: High End 6th/7th Man and Top Defender
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Shooting/Length
Springer relies on control and fundamentals to have an impact. He has the ideal height and wingspan to be a great on ball defender. His shooting percentages were very good, but he did not take a lot of shots. His offensive projection is very much a mystery right now. Some list him as a point guard though he did not really create in his one year at Tennessee. The Nets may trade this pick to avoid paying more in luxury taxes, so my guess is that a team trades up for Springer as he is the best player on the board.

28. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
Isaiah Todd-CF-G League Ignite
6'10''/219/7'1.25''
GL/19.8
12.3 PTS      4.9 REB
Hometown: Richmond, VA
NBA Comparison: Jonathan Bender
BEST TOOLS: Length/Defense/Shooting
Todd is long and slender forward that can play inside and out. One would like to see him attack the rim more. Like Bender he is more of a finesse outside player that settles for shots and doesn’t attack the glass like a near seven-footer should. He be a very interesting fit in Philly as he could provide them a stretch four that can space the floor with Embiid.

29. PHOENIX SUNS
Ayo Dosunmu-CG-Illinois
6'5''/194/6'10.25''
Jr./21.5
20.1 PTS      6.3 REB        5.3 AST
Hometown: Chicago
NBA Comparison: Reggie Jackson/Derrick White
ROLE: Instant offense bench player, Great 6th/7th man
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Length/Defense
Like Jackson and White, Dosunmu is an extremely long guard with great college production. The Suns have done well the past few drafts by taking NBA ready guys with college production (Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson) Dosunmu is a gamer that plays best down the stretch and seizes big moments. He has limitations as an athlete and as a shooter. He would be an ideal second unit guy and insurance as they will likely lose Cameron Payne in free agency.

30. UTAH JAZZ
Nah'Shon “Bones” Hyland-CG-VCU
6'3.5''/169/6'9.25''
So./20.8
19.5 PTS      37.1%-3PT    86.2%-FT
Hometown:  Wilmington, DE
NBA Comparison: Dennis Schröder/Lou Williams
ROLE: Instant offense bench player, Great 6th/7th man
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Shooting
Hyland is a lanky scoring guard that despite his frame is fearless at driving to the hoop. He has mastered the step back three and can also score in catch and shoot situations.  His downside is that he really doesn’t offer anything else other than scoring. Mike Conley may leave in free agency so the Jazz may need a third scoring guard to help out Donovan Mitchell and Jordan Clarkson.

SECOND ROUND

31. MILWAUKEE BUCKS
Quentin Grimes-SG/SF-Houston
6'5.25''/210/6'8''
Jr./21.2
17.8 PTS      5.7 REB        40.3%-3PT
Hometown: Houston
NBA Comparison: Reggie Bullock
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Toughness/Strength
Grimes was a highly ranked recruit in 2018 that struggled to fit at Kansas before becoming a star for two years at Houston. He shot over 40% from three last year which is even more impressive given that he took 8 per game. He is NBA ready and can be a replacement for Bryn Forbes

32. NEW YORK KNICKS
JT Thor-PF-Auburn
6'9.25''/203/7'3.25''
Fr./18.9
9.4 PTS        5.0 REB        1.4 BLK
Hometown: Anchorage, AK born in Sudan
NBA Comparison: Anthony Randolph
BEST TOOLS: Length/Defense/Versatility
Thor had a nice combine and is now shooting up draft boards. He may not move up to the lottery like Randolph did in 2008, but he now has a shot at going in the first round. His per 36 min numbers of 14.6 PTS, 7.9 REB and 2.1 BLK look a lot better than his per game stats and show how he would probably be used better in a limited role. Thor would be a nice backup to Julius Randle.

33. ORLANDO MAGIC
Joshua Primo-SG-Alabama
6'5''/189/6'9.25''
Fr./18.5
8.1 PTS        3.4 REB        38.1%-3PT
Hometown: Toronto, Ontario
NBA Comparison: Jeremy Lamb/Roger Mason
ROLE: Low End Starting Shooting Guard that may need 2-4 years to develop.
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Hustle
Primo is the youngest player in the draft and has used the draft process to raise his draft stock. He has ideal length as a shooting guard and has great form on his shot. The Magic will hope that he can put on a little more size. He probably needs a year or two in the G-League.

34. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Neemias Queta-C-Utah St
7'0.5''/248/7'4.0''
Jr./22.0
14.9 PTS      10.1 REB      3.3 BLK
Hometown: Barreiro, Portugal
NBA Comparison: Kyle O’Quinn
BEST TOOLS: Length/Power/Defense
Queta has the chance to be the first player in NBA history from Portugal. Like O’Quinn, he can become a nice backup big man with his size and developing skill set. Queta would be the rare second round pick that will have a chance to start as the Thunder have no proven center signed on the roster.

35. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
Miles “Deuce” McBride-PG-West Virginia
6'2.5''/195/6'8.75''
So./20.8
15.9 PTS      4.8 AST        41.4 %-3PT  81.3%-FT
Hometown: Cincinnati
NBA Comparison: Willie Green (New Coach of the Pelicans)
ROLE: Backup 3 and D guard
BEST TOOLS: Basketball IQ/Defense/Scoring
McBride is a coach’s dream with his versatile skill set and willingness as an on-ball defender. He should carve out a role as a 3 and D guard like Willie Green. I would love to see this happen though the Pelicans may need to trade into the first round for this to happen.

36. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Vrenz Bleijenbergh-SF-Antwerp/Belgium
6'9''/190/7'0''
INT/20.8
9.5 PTS        4.8 REB        3.5 AST
Hometown: Brasschaat
NBA Comparison: Dario Saric
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Basketball IQ
He has played as a point forward and has shown he can score when needed. He looks like a guy that could use a few more years overseas. He is the type of prospect that could easily sneak into the back end of the first round or could go completely undrafted. With six total picks, one would think that the Thunder plan on drafting one guy they could stash for a year or two in Europe.

37. DETROIT PISTONS
Jason Preston-PG-Ohio
6'4”/181/6'8.5''
Jr./21.9
15.7 PTS      7.3 REB        7.3 AST
Hometown: Orlando
NBA Comparison: John Starks
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Scoring/Hustle
Preston’s story is utterly amazing. In high school he was 6’0”/140 and barely played, by chance plays in an AAU tournament with his best friend and then he ended up working his way up on a Prep team and he uploaded videos to get noticed by Ohio. He is a great all-around player that can fill up the stat sheet. He has above average athletic traits but is still very slender.

The best comparison I could find that combines his game and story is that of Starks. Similar to Preston, Starks had no college offers out of high school and went to three small colleges before playing at OK St then had to play in the CBA and WBL before he finally broke through as a great player on the Knicks throughout the 90’s.

38. CHICAGO BULLS
Joe Wieskamp-SG/SF-Iowa
6'7.25''/205/6'11''
Jr./21.9
14.8 PTS      6.6 REB        46.2%-3PT
Hometown: Muscatine, IA
NBA Comparison: Chase Budinger
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Elite Leaping Skills
Wieskamp posted a 42-inch max vertical at the combine. He is a great athlete and proven shooter. Some compare his shooting and athletic ability to Pat Connaughton but he is not as big or strong. The Bulls could use more depth on the wings.

39. SACRAMENTO KINGS
Charles Bassey-PF/C-W. Kentucky
6'10.25''/230/7'3.0''
Jr./20.8
17.6 PTS      11.6 REB      3.1 BLK
Hometown: Lagos, Nigeria
NBA Comparison: Jordan Hill
BEST TOOLS: Rebounding/Length/On Ball Defense
Bassey has the size and quickness to be a solid backup center. Bassey would be a first round lock if not for a bad knee injury. He could be valuable insurance if the Kings are unable to keep Richaun Holmes.

40. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
(REPORTED TRADE)
Josh Christopher-SG-Arizona St.
6'4.5''/215/6'9.25''
Fr./19.6
14.3 PTS      4.7 REB        1.5 STL
Hometown: Carson, CA
NBA Comparison: DeShawn Stevenson
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Strength/Scoring
Christopher will play in the league due to his combination of size and athleticism. Many scouts are not sure if he can develop a consistent jump shot. If he can develop that, he could be the steal of this draft.

41. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
BJ Boston-SG-Kentucky
6'7''/188/6'10.75''
Fr./19.6
11.5 PTS      4.5 REB        78.5%-FT
Hometown: Norcross, GA
NBA Comparison: Dorell Wright
BEST TOOLS: Length/Playmaking/Mid Range Shooting
Boston was the 4th rated player in the 2020 class and a projected lottery pick with Brandon Ingram comparisons coming into the year. He was inconsistent at Kentucky but still has a chance to carve out a long NBA career given his elite length, body control and sweet looking jumper. San Antonio would be a great landing spot for Boston as they have a great track record at developing talent.

42. DETROIT PISTONS
Filip Petrusev-C/F-Serbia
6'11''/235
INT/21.3
17.5 PTS, 7.9 REB at Gonzaga in 2019-2020
Hometown: Belgrade
NBA Comparison: Brian Scalabrine
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Basketball IQ
Petrusev has the skill set and size to stick around in the league for a long time. He will likely never be a star, but he you know exactly what you are getting with him as a player.

43. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
Herbert Jones-CF-Alabama
6'7.25''/206/7'0.25''
Sr./22.8
11.2 PTS      6.6 REB        3.3 AST        1.1 BLK        1.7 STL
Hometown: Greensboro, AL
NBA Comparison: Matt Barnes
BEST TOOLS: Elite Defender/Length/Leadership
Jones was the SEC player of the year and was also a two-time SEC All Defensive team selection. He will stick in the league if he can use his defensive prowess to guard multiple positions on the court. We often see proven college players like Jones fall (Barnes, Jared Dudley, Draymond Green) due to lack of upside or shooting. But these are always the types of guys you need on your bench to be a contender.

44. BROOKLYN NETS
Joel Ayayi-CG-Gonzaga
6'5''/180/6'7''
Jr./21.3
12.0 PTS      6.9 REB        2.7 AST        1.1 STL
Hometown: Paris, France
NBA Comparison: Delonte West
BEST TOOLS: Basketball IQ/Slashing/Hustle
Ayayi did all the little things that Gonzaga needed. He is very slender but knows how to use his body to get where he wants on the court. He was also an excellent rebounder for his size.

45. BOSTON CELTICS
Jeremiah Robinson Earl-PF-Villanova
6'9''/242/6'9.75''
So./20.8
15.7 PTS      8.5 REB
Hometown: Kansas City
NBA Comparison: Markieff Morris
BEST TOOLS: Rebounding/Hustle/Basketball IQ
Given his lack of length, Robinson-Earl projects as a forward only in the league. He has a nice skill set but will need the right fit. Villanova is known for producing NBA ready. He could really learn a lot from Al Horford if he ended up in Boston.

46. TORONTO RAPTORS
David Johnson-CG-Louisville
6'4.75''/203/6'10.5''
So./20.4
12.6 PTS      5.8 REB        3.2 AST
Hometown: Louisville, KY
NBA Comparison: Lance Stephenson
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Toughness/Playmaking
Scouts who are high on Johnson love his toughness and versatility. He has the length and size to guard the one through the three. Like Stephenson, he can carve out a nice role in the league as an energy guy on defense and playmaker on offense. Johnson fits perfectly with the Raptors culture.

47. TORONTO RAPTORS
Rokas Jokubaitis-PG-Zalgiris/Lithuania
6'4''/185
INT/20.7
7.5 PTS        3.4 AST
Hometown: Mažeikiai, Lithuania
NBA Comparison: Beno Udrich
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Basketball IQ
Like Udrich, Jokubaitis is a big lefty point guard with a great feel for the game. He has athletic limitations, but he has an advanced skill set for his age. He is also seasoned playing in the EuroLeague and in Lithuania’s top division. He is an ideal draft and stash option as he signed a 4 year deal with FC Barcelona. The Raptors can stash him in Europe for a few years and use him as a trade asset.

 48. ATLANTA HAWKS
Jericho Sims-C/F-Texas
6'10.0''/250/7'3.25''
Sr./22.7
9.2 PTS        7.2 REB
Hometown: Minneapolis
NBA Comparison: Chris “Birdman” Anderson
BEST TOOLS: Elite Jumping Ability/Rebounding/Hustle
Sims’ 44.5 max vertical at the combine gives him a good chance at being drafted. If he is to carve out a career in the league it will be like Anderson as a low minute but high energy role player hitting the glass and finishing nasty dunks.

49. BROOKLYN NETS
Austin Reaves-SG-Oklahoma
6'5.75''/197/6'6.25''
Sr./23.1
18.3 PTS      5.5 REB        4.6 AST        86.5%-FT
Hometown: Newark, AR
NBA Comparison: Jon Barry
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Mid Range Shooting/ Basketball IQ
Reaves filled up the stat sheet in his two years at Oklahoma after playing two years at Wichita St. He is a fearless player that can score in a variety of ways. He has good size for a wing and has proven he is more than just a knock down shooter. The Nets can always use more floor spacers around KD and Harden.

50. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
Luka Garza-C-Iowa
6'11.25''/243/7'1.5''
Sr./22.6
24.1 PTS      8.7 REB        1.6 BLK
Hometown: Washington, DC
NBA Comparison: Adam Keefe
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Basketball IQ/Rebounding
Garza has been the best big man in college basketball the past two season. His fundamentals are great, and he has all the intangibles a coach would want. I went all the way back to 1992 to find the perfect player comparison. Keefe put up similar college numbers but like Garza was an extremely limited athlete. Keefe was still able to carve out a nine-year NBA career averaging 17 minutes per game.

51. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
(REPORTED TRADE)
Juhann Begarin-SG-Paris BB/France
6'5''/195/7'0''
INT/18.9
11.7 PTS      3.5 REB        2.9 AST
Hometown: Les Abymes, Guadeloupe
NBA Comparison: Christian Eyenga
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Length
Begarin is the biggest project of any player that has a chance to be drafted. He has incredible athletic tools and the ideal body of a shooting guard, but right now he is a raw player. He has yet to face top competition in Europe as he is still in France’s Pro B division. Despite all of this, he still has a good chance to be drafted due to his potential.

52. DETROIT PISTONS
Daishen Nix-PG-G League Ignite
6'4.25''/226/6'6.75''
GL/19.7
8.8 PTS        5.3 AST        5.3 REB
Hometown: Anchorage, AK and Las Vegas
NBA Comparison: Isaiah Briscoe
BEST TOOLS: Passing/Size
Nix is a true pass first point guard that struggled as a shooter. He is built more like a linebacker than a point guard. He’s has size but is not a great athlete nor is a good defender. His NBA fit is really a mystery right now. We have seen similar sized players like Marcus Smart and Dion Waiters have success in the league. But Nix doesn’t defend like Smart nor has the instant offense chops like Waiters. The Pistons can continue to let Nix develop in the G-League.

53. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
(REPORTED TRADE)
Greg Brown-CF-Texas
6'8.5''/206.4/7'0.25''
Fr./19.9
9.3 PTS        6.2 REB        1.0 BLK
Hometown: Austin
NBA Comparison: Jeremy Evans
BEST TOOLS: Elite Jumping Skills/Length
Brown is more athlete than refined basketball player right now. He is too slender to play inside and has little perimeter game on the outside. If he is to make his mark in the league it will be as an athlete and high energy defender. He would have plenty of time to develop in the G League if he is drafted by Philly.

54. INDIANA PACERS
Aaron Henry-SF-Michigan St.
6'6.''/210/6'10.75''
Jr./21.9
15.4 PTS      5.6 REB        3.6 AST        1.3 BLK        1.3 STL
Hometown: Indianapolis
NBA Comparison: Rodney Carney
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Playmaking/Defense
Henry is simply a good player. He really doesn’t do anything special, but he does a little bit of everything and has good size as a wing. The Pacers get the local kid that won a state title at Ben Davis High School.

55. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
RaiQuan Gray-PF-FSU
6'7.75''/269/6'10.75''
Jr./22.0
11.9 PTS      6.4 REB        1.2 STL
Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL
NBA Comparison: Jason Maxiell
BEST TOOLS: Power/Hustle
Gray is a throwback power forward that can contribute 15-20 quality minutes to a team’s second unit. He loves to play physical and has played the same role that he will play in the NBA.

56. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Isaiah Livers-CF-Michigan
6'7.25''/232/6'9.25''
Sr./23.0
13.1 PTS      6.0 REB        43.1%-3PT    87.0%-FT
Hometown: Kalamazoo, MI
NBA Comparison: Doug McDermott
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/Leadership/ Basketball IQ
Livers is another low ceiling, high floor three point shooter. At 232 he has enough size to play as a small ball power forward. He will turn 23 the night before that draft which makes him among the oldest players in the class. His older age combined with a foot injury suffered in March are the reasons that Livers is not a first round lock.

57. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Duane Washington Jr-CG-Ohio St
6'3.75''/197/6'7.75''
Jr./21.4
16.4 PTS      3.4 REB        37.4 %-3PT  83.5%-FT
Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI
NBA Comparison: Jordan Crawford
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Toughness
Washington is a solid combo guard that can really shoot. However. he lacks the playmaking skills to currently run a team’s second unit at the point. He proved his competitiveness at the combine but will still need the right fit in the league.

58. NEW YORK KNICKS
Sandro Mamukelashvili-PF/C-Seton Hall

Sr./22.2
17.5 PTS      7.6 REB        3.2 AST
Hometown: New York City/Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia
NBA Comparison: Rasho Nesterović
BEST TOOLS: Basketball IQ/Passing Big/Shooting
Great passer for a big and has a nice all-around skill set. It would not be surprising if a team fell in love with him and took him in the late first round. It also would not be a shock if he went undrafted.

59. BROOKLYN NETS
Yves Pons-PF-Tennessee
6'6.75''/206/7'0.75''
Sr./22.2
8.7 PTS        5.3 REB
Hometown: Fuveau, France
NBA Comparison: Carl Landry
BEST TOOLS: Hustle/Athletic Ability/Length
Great athlete that uses his long wingspan to play much bigger than his 6-7 height. We have seen similar guys (Landry, Kenneth Faried, Montrezl Harrell) get minutes as a center, but he will need to find the perfect fit to play in the league.

60. INDIANA PACERS
Matthew Hurt-CF-Duke

NBA Comparison: Kyle Wiltjer
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting
Hurt is an excellent shooter that lacks elite athletic ability and length. There is a place for him in this league as a limited minutes big man and floor spacer.
