NBA DRAFT 2014: Top 30 Prospects

1. JABARI PARKER-SF-DUKE
6-8/235 
NBA COMPARISON: PAUL PIERCE/GRANT HILL 
ROLE: Possible superstar that can play both forward positions. A likely 25ppg guy eventually.

2. ANDREW WIGGINS-SF-KANSAS
6-8/200
NBA COMPARISON: PAUL GEORGE/GERALD GREEN
ROLE: Good player right now with star potential, has been overhyped as the next LeBron. In reality, a GM will be happy if he becomes another Paul George. He may end up being just another freak athlete like Gerald Green.

3. MARCUS SMART-CG/PG-OK ST. 
6-3/227 
NBA COMPARISON: JAMES HARDEN/bigger KYLE LOWRY 
ROLE: Stud combo guard that has the versatility and skill to play the point and the size to play the two in the league as well.

4. AARON GORDON-CF/PF-ZONA 
6-9/220
NBA COMPARISON: SHAWN MARION/KAWHI LEONARD 
ROLE: Great role player that will be best as a 3rd option on a winning team. This guy does all the little things well. A very similar prospect to Kawhi coming out of college.

5. DANTE EXUM-PG-AUSTRALIA

NBA COMPARISON: JAMAL CRAWFORD/PENNY HARDAWAY
ROLE: Stud combo guard that has the play making skill of a point, will be best if paired with an undersized scoring guard.

6. JOEL EMBIID-C-KANSAS

NBA COMPARISON: JOAKIM NOAH/GREG ODEN (injury risk) 
ROLE: Great role playing defensive big that has star potential, staying healthy will be the key to his success.

7. NOAH VONLEH-PF-INDIANA
6-10/242 NBA COMPARISON: AL HARRINGTON/MARKIEFF MORRIS
ROLE: Stud PF with star potential, will need at least 3-4 years to develop. Vonleh is very similar to Harrington. Both have more of the skill set of a wing but have the size to play PF.

8. JULIUS RANDLE-PF-UK

NBA COMPARISON: ZACH RANDOLPH/TERRANCE JONES 
ROLE: Solid PF that will fit best playing alongside a Center that is either a great shooter (Marc Gasol) or passer (Joakim Noah). Should be a starter for a long time but never a star

9. NIK STAUSKAS-SF/SG-MICHIGAN

NBA COMPARISON: DAN MAJERLE/KLAY THOMPSON
ROLE: Sharp shooting wing that could be a good #3/4 option on a playoff team, is a much better athlete than McDermott or Gary Harris.

10. ELFRID PAYTON-PG-LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE

NBA COMPARISON: DAMIAN LILLARD/GEORGE HILL 
ROLE: Good point guard with great length that could end up being the steal of this year's draft

11. DOUG McDERMOTT-SF-CREIGHTON

NBA COMPARISON: KYLE KORVER/MIKE MILLER
ROLE: See Nik Stauskas

12. JAMES YOUNG-G/F-UK

NBA COMPARISON: MANU GINOBILI/MICHEAL REDD
ROLE: Good slasher/shooter that could develop into a solid #2 scorer

13. GARY HARRIS-SG-MICHIGAN ST.

NBA COMPARISON: AARON AFFALO/KLAY THOMPSON
ROLE: See Nik Stauskas, a better catch and shoot player than Stauskas but not great at creating his own shot.

14. TYLER ENNIS-PG-SYRACUSE

NBA COMPARISON: TONY PARKER/KIRK HINRICH
ROLE: Good point guard, 3rd/4th best player on a playoff team

15. ADREIAN PAYNE-PF-MICHIGAN ST.

NBA COMPARISON: ROBERT HORRY/CHANNING FRYE
ROLE: Good stretch 4 and solid role player, will be an immediate contributor

16. KYLE ANDERSON-SF-UCLA

NBA COMPARISON: JALEN ROSE/LANDRY FIELDS
ROLE: Good point forward wing that can create like a point on offense and defend other threes on defense

17. DARIO SARIC-CF/PF-CROATIA

NBA COMPARISON: BORIS DIAW/CHANDLER PARSONS
ROLE: Solid combo forward that is a very skilled passer and decent shooter, will stay in Europe for a few more years.

18. ZACH LAVINE-SG-UCLA

NBA COMPARISON: IMAN SHUMPERT/HAROLD MINER
ROLE: Freak athlete that may end up getting more notoriety in the Dunk Contest than as a NBA starter. Very raw offensively and will need many years to develop

19. SHABAZZ NAPIER-PG-UCONN

NBA COMPARISON: JAMEER NELSON/PATTY MILLS 
ROLE: Good starting PG, that is a flat out winner.

20. CLEANTHONY EARLY-SF-WICHITA STATE

NBA COMPARISON: JIMMY BUTLER/DRAYMOND GREEN
ROLE: Defensive specialist/role playing SF

21. GLENN ROBINSON III-SF/SG-MICHIGAN

ROLE: Good wing that still has some star potential, was never the go to guy in college, enjoys being a solid role player.  

22. JUSIF NURKIC-C-BOSNIA

NBA COMPARISON: ZAZA PACHULIA/ROY HIBBERT
ROLE: Solid rim protecting big man that will be a good banger

23. TJ WARREN-SF-NC ST.

NBA COMPARISON: JOSH HOWARD
ROLE: Good scorer off the bench, good rebounder for a SF

24. RODNEY HOOD-SF-DUKE

NBA COMPARISON: MARVIN WILLIAMS/MARTELL WEBSTER
ROLE: Solid shooter off the bench, has good athletic ability but must become more aggressive in order to become a regular contributor

25. JERAMI GRANT-SF-SYRACUSE

NBA COMPARISON: TOBIAS HARRIS/AL-FAROUQ AMINU
ROLE: Solid role playing combo forward that needs to develop his wing skills, is more of a PF in a wings body right now

26. CJ WILCOX-SG-WASHINGTON

NBA COMPARISON: DANNY GREEN
ROLE: Defensive specialist/sharpshooting SG just like Green

27. PJ HAIRSTON-G/F-UNC

NBA COMPARISON: ALAN ANDERSON/WES MATTHEWS
ROLE: Solid wing that can backup both the 2 and 3.

28. CLINT CAPELA-PF-SWITZERLAND

NBA COMPARISON: AMIR JOHNSON
ROLE: Good backup big man with a lot of athletic ability and upside, may be a Euro stash candidate 

29. SEMAJ CHRISTON-PG-XAVIER

ROLE: Solid backup PG that could start on a below average team

30. MITCH McGARY-C-MICHIGAN

NBA COMPARISON: BILL LAIMBEER/NIKOLA PEKOVIC
ROLE: Physical big man that will just rebound, defend and hustle. He'd be a top 10 pick if not for character and injury concerns
