NFL DRAFT 2014: MY FINAL MOCK!!!!!!!

FIRST ROUND

1. HOUSTON TEXANS-JADEVEON CLOWNEY-PR/DE/OLB-SOUTH CAROLINA

The Texans will likely draft the Clowney. This is the smart move as Clowney and JJ Watt can make a pass rush duo as good as any in the NFL. Clowney has drawn comparisons to former #1 Texans pick Mario Williams. I think he has the chance to be another Robert Quinn.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 1, 33.65
NEEDS: QB, PR, ILB, RT
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING SCHEME
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: 3-4 ZONE

2. ST. LOUIS RAMS-JAKE MATTHEWS-OT-TEXAS A&M

I don't want to go chalk. Many mocks have the Rams taking OT Greg Robinson out of Auburn. The interesting thing is that the Rams don't need a LT they need a RT. Jake Long is a solid LT. I think the Rams will go with the more NFL ready prospect in Matthews. Head coach Jeff Fisher coached Jake's father, Hall of Fame guard Bruce Matthews in Tennessee.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 2, 13, 44, 75
NEEDS: #1 WR, FS, RT, LCB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: FAST FLOWING 4-3 PRESS MAN

3. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS-SAMMY WATKINS-WR-CLEMSON

Watkins is the play maker the Jags have lacked on the outside. He would instantly be the most talented WR in franchise history. The Jags can always trade back into the 1st for a QB or wait until #39 and draft a good pass rusher.  Plenty should be available (Kyle Van Noy, Demarcus Lawrence, Scott Crighton or maybe even Dee Ford). Khalil Mack would be a great choice here as well.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 3. 39, 70
NEEDS: PR, QB, RT, LG, #2 WR, Speed RB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: RUN 1st/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: FAST FLOWING 4-3 UNDER PRESS ZONE

4. ATLANTA FALCONS (Projected Trade UP with CLV for picks #6 and #68-GREG ROBINSON-OT-AUBURN
Trading up to the #1 pick for Clowney will cost way too much.  Giving up a 3rd to move up for a road grater like Robinson will be a smarter trade. The Falcons need a someone to protect franchise QB Matt Ryan and someone to open holes for the running game as well.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 6, 37, 68
NEEDS:  LT, PR-OLB, TE, C
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS 1st/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: HYBRID 3-4 ZONE

5. OAKLAND RAIDERS-KHALIL MACK-OLB/DE/PR-BUFFALO

Oakland could draft an OT like Taylor Lewan or Zach Martin. But ultimately the smarter choice is Mack. Mack will be put in a position to succeed with newly signed pass rush mentors Justin Tuck and LaMarr Woodley. The Raiders can line him up a both DE and have him split time at SLB with Sio Moore. At #5 he would be a mini-steal.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 5, 36, 67
NEEDS: QB, LT, DT, #1 WR, FS, LG
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PHYSICAL 4-3 PRESS MAN

6. CLEVELAND BROWNS(Projected trade DOWN with ATL)-MIKE EVANS-WR-TEXAS A&M
The Browns go with the athlete and play maker from Texas A&M.  NOT the one you think though. Evans, not Johnny Football is the choice here. I think new GM Ray Farmer knows he can stay put at #26 or move up to get his new QB. Evans and Josh Gordon could be the Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffrey duo of the AFC.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 4, 26, 35, 71, 83
NEEDS: QB, #2 CB, #2 WR, ILB, Speed RB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: HYBRID 3-4 PRESS MAN

7. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS-JOHNNY MANZIEL-QB-TEXAS A&M

New QB Josh McCown is 35 years old. He's NOT the long term answer at QB. Manziel will need time to develop but he may be worth the risk with his play making skills. Tampa can then instantly trade Mike Glennon.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 7, 38, 69
NEEDS: #2 WR, SLB, RG, QB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PRESSURE 4-3 TAMPA 2

8. MINNESOTA VIKINGS-AARON DONALD-DT-PITTSBURGH
The Vikings need a franchise QB. However new coach Mike Zimmer is a defensive guy and will try to communicate with GM Rick Spielman to draft a guy that reminds many of Zimmer's former Pro Bowl DT Geno Atkins. Donald could pair Shariff Floyd to form one of the best young DT duos in the league.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 8, 40, 72, 96
NEEDS: QB, MLB, #WLB, LG, #3 WR, DE
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: HYBRID 4-3 MAN

 9. BUFFALO BILLS-TAYLOR LEWAN-OT-MICHIGAN

The Bills could use another OT to compliment current LT Cordy Glenn. Lewan is the most athletic OT in this class.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 9, 41, 73
NEEDS: RT, TE, Both S Spots, LG
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: RUN 1st/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: WIDE 9 4-3 PRESS ZONE

10. DETROIT LIONS-HA HA CLINTON-DIX-DS-BAMA

The Lions have major problems on the back end.  In a division with the Packers and Bears, they need help guarding WR's.  Ha Ha isn't quite Earl Thomas, but he has an opportunity to become a Pro Bowl dual high safety that can cover or play in the box.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 10, 45, 76
NEEDS:  DS, CB, LG, #3 WR
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PRESSURE 4-3 ZONE

11. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (Projected Trade up with TEN for picks #30, #56, #94 and a 2015 2nd round pick)-ODELL BECKHAM JR.-WR-LSU

San Francisco trades up to get a WR that can stretch the field. Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree are very good WRs, but neither has the deep speed to blow the top off of a defense. Beckham Jr. has 4.38 speed and is also a good route runner with good hands. The 49ers have 6 picks in the top 100, so a trade up is very likely. Tennessee only has 6 total picks and no 3rd round pick so they may be looking to trade down for additional assets.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 30, 56, 61, 77, 94, 100
NEEDS:  Speed WR, Nickel Corner, PR Depth, NT, SS
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PHYSICAL 3-4 ZONE

12. NEW YORK GIANTS-ZACH MARTIN-OT-NOTRE DAME

The Giants can fill a huge hole on the O-Line with Martin. His ability to play either OT or G is what makes him so appealing here. The G-Men need to give Eli more time in the pocket.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 19, 49, 81
NEEDS: DT, WLB, RT/G, RB, LDE
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PRESSURE 4-3 ZONE

13. ST. LOUIS RAMS-JUSTIN GILBERT-CB-OK ST.

Gilbert is a big, athletic, physical corner that can become a great compliment to their smaller yet ultra talented corner Janorris Jenkins. Coach Jeff Fisher knows how to get the most out of defensive backs.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 2, 13, 44, 75
NEEDS: #1 WR, FS, RT, LCB

14. CHICAGO BEARS-CALVIN PRYOR-DS-LOUISVILLE

The Bears need help at safety.  They can wait to grab a corner in the 2nd or 3rd as there's great depth in the corner class this year.  However it will be very had to find a hard-hitting safety like Pryor later in the draft.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 14, 51, 82
NEEDS: DS, DT-3T, CB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: FAST FLOWING 4-3 MAN

15. PITTSBURGH STEELERS-DARQUEZE DENNARD-CB-MICHIGAN ST.

A tough, physical press corner to guard AJ Green and Josh Gordon twice a year.  Incumbent CB Ike Taylor needs help.
Picks in first round: 15, 46, 97
NEEDS: CB, Big WR, young TE, ILB, DE
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 PRESS ZONE

16. DALLAS COWBOYS-ANTHONY BARR-PR/DE/OLB-UCLA
The Cowboys need a pass rusher to fill the void left by the loss of DeMarcus Ware.  Barr is raw, but may develop into a stud pass rusher one day.  He has the size and length to be a 4-3 end or a 3-4 OLB.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 16, 47, 78
NEEDS: DT-3T, PR-DE, WLB, SS
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 4-3 TAMPA 2 ZONE

17. BALTIMORE RAVENS-ERIC EBRON-TE-UNC

Ebron is too good for GM and Hall of Fame TE Ozzie Newsome to pass up. Flacco has good players on the outside in Torry Smith and newly acquired Steve Smith. He needs someone that can stretch the middle of the field.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 17, 48, 79, 99
NEEDS:  RT, DS, ILB, DE, CB, C/G Depth, #3 WR
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 PRESS MAN

18. NEW YORK JETS-MARQUISE LEE-WR-USC

The Jets need a big time pass catcher to compliment 2nd year QB Geno Smith.  Lee is a smooth route runner with great hands and solid deep speed. He comes from a big program and is from Los Angeles so he won't be phased by the New York media and bight lights.  Lee has a chance to become everything Jets fans hoped Santonio Holmes would be.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 18, 49, 80
NEEDS: #1 WR, CB, PR-OLB, TE, RG, FS
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 PRESS MAN

19. CLEVELAND BROWNS (projected trade UP with MIA for picks #26 and #83)-DEREK CARR-QB-FRESNO ST.
Twice in the past eight years the Browns waited to take a QB with their second pick in the 1st round. They traded back into the first round for Brady Quinn in 2007 and took Brandon Weeden in 2012. Neither pick worked out well. They hope the 3rd time is a charm. Carr will be in a great position to succeed with Josh Gordan, Joe Thomas, Jordan Cameron and projected pick Mike Evans.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 4, 26, 35, 71, 83
NEEDS: QB, #2 CB, #2 WR, ILB, Speed RB

20. ARIZONA CARDINALS-BLAKE BORTLES-QB-UCF
The Cards have done a good job in recent drafts adding young pieces to help them. They need to add depth on D. However, if Bortles slips all the way to #20, it will be very hard for them to pass up on him. Bortles has been compared to Big Ben. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians coached Big Ben in Pittsburgh, so he knows how to develop a QB like Bortles.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 20, 52, 84
NEEDS: PR-OLB, SS, 3-4 DE, ILB, young backup QB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 MAN

21. GREEN BAY PACKERS-RYAN SHAZIER-WLB/ILB-OHIO ST.

The Pack get an ultra athletic LB that can play all over the field.  He would be a great compliment inside to AJ Hawk.  Shazier also has the versatility to rush the passer and cover TE's.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 21, 53, 85, 98
NEEDS: ILB, FS, TE, C, #3 WR
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 PRESS MAN

22. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES-KYLE FULLER-CB-VIRGINIA TECH
It seems most mocks have the Eagles taking a big WR. That would be a nice luxury pick. But the Eagles MUST upgrade their horrible secondary first. Fuller is a big time corner with great length and ball skills.  In a division with Dez Bryant, Victor Cruz, Pierre Garcon and former Eagle Desean Jackson, having a shut down corner is a must. Fill a key need here and then wait until the 2nd round to draft a big WR. Their will be plenty available.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 22, 54, 86
NEEDS:  CB, SS, Young PR, Big WR, OL Depth
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: FAST FLOWING 4-3 UNDER

23. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS-BRANDIN COOKS-WR-OREGON ST.

What a difference a year makes!  KC went from picking 1st last year, to the playoffs this year.  The Chiefs still need a lot of help at WR.  Cooks would be the perfect target for weak armed QB Alex Smith.  Cooks has great ability to make plays in space.  He will be an instant upgrade over Donnie Avery.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 23, 87
NEEDS: WR, RG, FS, #3 CB 3-4 DE Depth
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: RUN 1st/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 PRESS MAN

24. CINCINNATI BENGALS-CJ MOSLEY-ILB-BAMA

The Bengals biggest need is corner so they may go with Bradley Roby or Jason Verrett. However, if Mosley is still here at #24, they should add they play maker out of Alabama. He can team up with Vontaze Burfict to form a LB duo that can be very similar to Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman in San Francisco.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 24, 55, 88
NEEDS:  CB, RDE, SLB, C/G Depth, #3 WR
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: WILL BECOME BALANCED AGAIN/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: HYBRID 4-3 MAN

25. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS-LOUIS NIX-NT/DT-NOTRE DAME
The Chargers need a starting NT to anchor their 3-4 defense.  Nix would be put in a great situation to succeed with great talent right behind him in ILB Donald Butler, All-Pro S Eric Weddle and we can't forget his former college teammate ILB Manti Te'o.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 25, 57, 89
NEEDS:  CB, NT, ILB Depth, C/G Depth, Young TE, SS
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 3-4 PRESS ZONE

26. MIAMI DOLPHINS (projected trade down with CLV)-MORGAN MOSES-OT-VIRGINIA
They Dolphins need an OT that can start right away at RT and eventually move to LT. Moses isn't the sexiest pick, but he would be the smartest pick here.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 19, 50, 81
NEEDS:  RT, MLB, WLB, RG, Power RB, DB Depth
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 4-3 PRESS MAN

27. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (projected trade UP with NO for picks #39 and #70-TEDDY BRIDGEWATER-QB-LOUISVILLE
The Saints are rumored to be enamored with C/G Marcus Martin. Translation, the Saints WILL trade down. It makes sense for Jacksonville to trade up and get their QB of the future before their division rivals Tennessee and Houston can get Bridgewater.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 3. 39, 70
NEEDS: PR, QB, RT, LG, #2 WR, Speed RB

28. CAROLINA PANTHERS-JOEL BITONIO-OT/G-NEVADA
Like the Eagles, it makes more sense for the Panthers to wait to take a #1 WR given the depth of this class. They cannot afford to wait on an OT that will protect QB Cam Newton. Bitonio is a safe/solid choice here.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 28, 60, 92
NEEDS: LT, #1 WR, CB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: REACTIVE 4-3 ZONE

29. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS-RA'SHEDE HAGEMAN-DE/DT-MINNESOTA
They need help on the D-Line with Wilfork getting long in the tooth, large in the belly and short in the knees
Picks in first 3 rounds: 19, 62, 93
NEEDS: DL, C/G, TE
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PRESSURE 4-3 HYBRID PRESS ZONE

30. TENNESSEE TITANS (projected trade DOWN with SF)-JASON VERRETT-CB-TCU

Trading down works out for the Titans as they trade down and still get a top notch corner that can contribute right away as a nickel corner.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 11, 42
NEEDS:  CB, Speed RB, PR-OLB, QB
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: BALANCED/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: PHYSICAL 3-4 HYBID MAN

31. DENVER BRONCOS-BRADLEY ROBY-CB-OHIO ST.

Good corner that has slipped due to character concerns and inconsistent play.  The Broncos will take him here as it provides solid value for their biggest need.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 31, 63, 95
NEEDS:  CB, FS, MLB,  Speed RB, #3 WR, DL Depth
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: PASS/MAN BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: ATTACKING 4-3 MAN

32. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS-TIMMY JERNIGAN-DT-FSU

Seattle is smart enough to take the best player in the board that can immediately help them defend the title.  Jernigan can be a rotational DT at first, and then become the eventual replacement for Red Bryant. Pete Carroll can get the most out of this guy.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 32, 64
NEEDS:  WR, RT, DT, RG
OFFENSIVE SCHEME: POWER RUN/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: FAST FLOWING PRESS ZONE

SECOND ROUND

33. HOUSTON TEXANS-TOM SAVAGE-QB-PITTSBURGH

The Texans wait till the 2nd to get their QB of the future.  They hope this big QB with a big arm can turn into the next Joe Flacco.
NEEDS: QB, PR, ILB, RT

34. WASHINGTON REDSKINS-JaWUAN JAMES-OT-TENNESSEE
The Redskins need to protect RG IIII. James is a NFL ready OT that can start day one at RT.

OFFENSIVE SCHEME: RUN/ZONE BLOCKING
DEFENSIVE SCHEME: REACTIVE 3-4 PRESS MAN

NEEDS: QB, #2 CB, #2 WR, ILB, Speed RB

36. OAKLAND RAIDERS-CODY LATIMER-WR-INDIANA

Latimer is big (6-3/215) and fast (4.44 speed) that can come in and help the passing game.  Right now Rod Streater and free agent pickup James Jones are the Raiders top two WR's.  New QB Matt Schaub needs weapons on the outside
NEEDS: QB, LT, DT, #1 WR, FS, LG

37. ATLANTA FALCONS-DEMARCUS LAWRENCE-PR/OLB-BOISE

The Falcons need a pass rusher and Lawrence provides solid value here.  If they draft Lawrence and Robinson, they will fill their two key needs. Atlanta looks like they are moving to a 3-4 this year so Lawrence would be a great fit as an OLB.

38. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS-DEE FORD-DE/PR-AUBURN

Tampa gets an absolute steal here. Like Robert Mathis, he can become an ultra productive, high motor pass rusher

39. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS(trade DOWN with JAX)-MARCUS MARTIN-C/G-USC

The Saints trade down and get a guy that can compliment Drew Brees and the NO passing game.
Picks in first 3 rounds: 19, 62, 93

A big pass catcher for Eli.
NEEDS: DT, WLB, RT/G, RB, LDE

44. ST. LOUIS RAMS-DEONE BUCHANON-DS-WASHINGTON ST.

NEEDS: #1 WR, FS, RT, LCB

The Lions current center, Dominic Raiola is 35 years old.  Richburg can start at LG right away and replace Raiola in the next 2-3 years
NEEDS:  DS, CB, LG, #3 WR

46. PITTSBURGH STEELERS--KELVIN BENJAMIN-WR-FSU
A big raw target for Big Ben and a great red zone threat that can compliment WR Antonio Brown. The Steelers are rumored to like Benjamin. They hope he slips all the way down here. They may need to trade up to get him though.
NEEDS: CB, Big WR, young TE, ILB, DE

47. DALLAS COWBOYS-DOMINIQUE EASLEY-DT-FLORIDA

NEEDS: #1 WR, CB, PR-OLB, TE, RG, FS
