MY NFL TOP 100 PLAYERS LIST: NUMBERS 81-100
In honor of the NFL Network premiering their Top 100 Players if 2012 tonight I decided to make my top 100 player list. I have the player listed with his "current 2012" team (notice Brandon Marshall is listed with the Bears and then I have his position and his rank at his position.
Here's my list #81-100.
81. Brandon Marshall-CHI-WR #12
He's not quite on the elite level but he's certainly worthy of the top 100. Being reunited with Jay Cutler could put him in the top tier among NFL wideouts.
82. Marshawn Lynch-SEA-RB #11
He's one of the most underrated skill position players in the NFL. He's pretty much the only productive member of the Seahawks offense.
83. Pat Angerer-IND-ILB #6
The second year man out of Iowa had a breakout season finishing 4th in the league in tackles. One of the few and I mean few bright spots in Indy this year.
84. A.J. Green-CIN-WR #13
Making the Pro Bowl as a rookie is no small feat. Green had better rookie year numbers than both Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. Look out NFL, this guy may be on the Calvin/Larry level by his 3rd year.
85. Joe Haden-CLV-CB #6
After only his second year, Haden is developing a reputation as one of the best shutdown corners in the game. His athletic ability and ball skills make a poor man's Darrelle Revis.
86. Joe Flacco-BAL-QB #12
Another year and another deep run for the Ravens. Flacco will never get the credit he deserves unless the Ravens win a Super Bowl. He puts up average numbers but he manages the game and that's what the Ravens ask him to do. They are starting to let him air it out a little more though.
87. Derrick Johnson-KC-ILB #7
He's a great tackler and great in coverage too. A very good and versatile LB. One of the major reasons the Chiefs were 11th in total defense last year.
88. Richard Seymour-OAK-DE/DT #5
He's no longer elite but he's still one of the best interior defensive linemen in the game. He can rush the passer from inside, stop the run and eat up space. Hall of Fame worthy career with 7 Pro Bowls and 3 Super Bowl wins. The Patriots defense hasn't been the same since he left.
89. D'Qwell Jackson-CLV-ILB #8
He was second in the league in tackles and also added 3.5 sacks and an interception after being injured in 2010 and most of 2009. When healthy this guy as good of an ILB as you find.
90. Brandon Flowers-KC-CB #7
He may be small (5-9/187) but he still hods his own with the best #1 WR's in the league. There's a reason the Chiefs let Brandon Carr go in free agency. They know Flowers and FS Eric Berry can carry the load in their secondary
91. Chad Greenway-MIN-Only OLB non pass rusher on my list
He was 3rd in the league in tackles last year after being 4th in the league in 2010. He also can play all 3 LB positions in the Vikings 4-3 defense. A very underrated player who would be more well known if the Vikings weren't so terrible.
92. Reggie Wayne-IND-WR #14
Look at his numbers with Peyton Manning in 2010 and look at his numbers without Manning last year. With Andrew Luck his numbers should look more like 2010. Given the horrible QB's he played with last year his numbers were pretty good.
93. Kam Chancellor-SEA-SS #2
There's a reason most people have never heard of him and that reason is that he plays in football purgatory AKA Seattle. Chancellor and Earl Thomas form the best safety duo in the NFL. The scary thing is that they're both under 25.
94. Michael Turner-ATL-RB #12
The definition of a workhorse power back. The Falcons are airing it out more with Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez. However, Turner is still a vital piece to their balanced offensive attack. Two straight 1300 yard seasons, numbers don't lie.
95. Percy Harvin-MIN-WR #15
He was 6th in the league in catches and had over 1200 all purpose yards. The Vikings stunk but it wasn't his fault. He did everything on offense once they lost Adrian Peterson for the season.
96. Chris Snee-NYG-G #3
The best offensive lineman for the Super Bowl champs. He's Tom Coughlin's son in law too. That is some
major pressure to play under.
97. Darren Sproles-NO-RB #13
Running backs shouldn't be 7th in the league in catches. Sproles broke out in his first year in New Orleans. It will be interesting to see how they divide his workload with power back Mark Ingram next year.
98. Marshall Yanda-BAL-G #4
There's a reason Ray Rice gets a lot of yardage every year. Yanda is one of the best run blockers in the NFL. A very good yet underrated player.
99. Aldon Smith-SF-OLB/PR #18
I know he set a rookie record for sacks this year with 14. However I can't put him any higher because he was just a situational pass rusher in his first year. Right now he's a one dimensional player but his future is bright in San Fran.
100. Aaron Hernandez-NE-TE #4
The second best TE on his team the 4th best TE in the league. It's really crazy to call him a TE though. They line him out wide more than on the line of scrimmage and use him as a RB as well. Gronk provides the size, power and mismatches while Aaron provides the versatility. The league has never seen a TE duo like them.
