2026 NBA DRAFT: PLAYERS WITH SUPERSTAR POTENTIAL
I have previously
profiled the role players that will be available in this class. Now it is time
for the guys that have the potential to be franchise players. This class has
three players that would be a lock to go first overall in most drafts. They are
Cameron Boozer, AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson. The fourth best prospect Caleb
Wilson also had superstar potential but is not lacks the offensive ability of
the other three players.
AJ Dybantsa is the most polished scorer at as a college freshman since KD and Carmelo. He has a chance to become an elite scorer at the next level. He also has elite athletic ability and great size to play either forward spot.
Cameron Boozer won the Wooden and Naismith Awards and statistically is the best Duke one and done ever. From an analytics standpoint, he is the best earning a perfect offensive score via CraftedNBA. He looks like a surefire All Star forward in the Kevin Love and Blake Griffin form.
Darryn Peterson is an amazing shooter and scorer that has an advanced offensive skill set. He has great size for a wing though some see him as a lead guard. He is a score first create second guard in the Bradley Beal/Joe Johnson mold. He could also be the number one pick.
Caleb Wilson actually may be
the safest pick because of the intensity and drive that he has. He really has
zero bust potential because at worst he should be a Kenyon Martin or Josh Smith
type. He is an elite athlete that can really play all three frontcourt spots.
However, his shooting woes are cause for concern.

ROLE: Superstar Potential, Day Primary Scorer
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Elite Length/Elite Athletic Tools/Alpha Mentality
Dybantsa lived up to
the hype at BYU where he led the nation in scoring. He can create his own shot
at will and can get to the rim at will. He doesn’t waste dribbles and uses his length
and frame to create space. He is a lethal mid-range shooter that is very similar
to a young Melo, Pierce and McGrady. These elite scorers developed into elite 3-point
shooters later in their careers. Therefore, the lack of three-point attempts last
season should not be a worry. His combination of scoring, athleticism, length and
feel for the game make him the best player in the draft.
Dybantsa also is an elite
athlete who had combine numbers similar to Scottie Barnes, Jimmy Butler, and Iman
Shumpert. Scouts were claiming Wilson as the best athlete in the draft then Dybantsa
put up better numbers in every category. What is even more impressive is that
he doesn’t rely on this athletic ability rather his skill set. This is similar
to dare I say it (Michael, Kobe and LeBron). The only things that will limit
him are if the team that drafts him doesn’t put the right players around him.

Boozer was the best player in the country and the best one and
done player in Duke history. That says a lot when you see the chart below. That
list contains four players drafted first, three players drafted second, three
players drafted third and two other lottery picks. Irving and Tatum are stars
that have won titles with a Hall of Fame trajectory. Zion, BI, Paolo and Luol
Deng have made All Star games. Only Bagley and Okafor were busts. Flagg and
Boozer have a chance to be the best out of all of them

Boozer has an exceptional skill set for the modern-day NBA. He
can do a bit of everything as a big man and is very efficient. He erased doubts
about his athletic ability at the combine where his athletic measurements were
similar to Amar'e Stoudemire and Blake Griffin. His skill set, size and IQ are
very similar to prime Kevin Love. The best comparison to me is a less EXPLOSIVE
but more FLUID version of Griffin or Stoudemire. Basically, the Knicks version
of Stoudemire which was arguably his best season.

His shooting splits are similar to Thompson, McCollum and Roy
coming out of college. It would benefit him to play next to a good point guard

Klay with Steph, Beal with John Wall and McCollum with Lillard. He would fit
perfect on Washington with Trae Young or on the Clippers with Darius Garland.

Wilson is a great athlete that wants to block every shot and dunk every time he gets the ball. He uses his elite athletic ability as well as any young player. He plays with an attitude and swagger of K-Mart and the versatility of The Matrix. He really has zero bust potential because of his drive and ability to be an elite defender.
The shooting woes are a cause for concern which probably limits
his upside. Siakam and Johnson are the modern era blueprints as All Star forwards
that will never be elite shooters. Both players have steadily improved though
in their NBA careers. If Wilson can improve his shot even a small amount, we
are looking at a perennial All Star. If not, he will be another Josh Smith or
Kenyon Martin. That is a great floor to have.
