2025 NBA MOCK DRAFT

FIRST ROUND

1. DALLAS MAVERICKS
Cooper Flagg-CF-Duke
6'9''/221/7'0''
19.2 PTS       7.5 REB         4.2 AST         38.5% 3PT    84.0%-FT
Fr./18.5
Hometown: Newport, Maine
Current NBA Comparison: Kawhi Leonard/Jalen Williams
Old School NBA Comparison: Kevin Garnett/Tom Chambers
ROLE: Superstar
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Playmaking/Defense/Team Player

Flagg is a generational prospect. Magic Johnson is probably the only player in history to be as versatile and skilled as an 18 year old. Flagg does everything well on a basketball court. More importantly, has the mentality, toughness and maturity to be the face of a franchise and potentially the entire league. He was the best player in college basketball and led a stacked Duke roster in every category.

His playmaking is elite and Dallas is likely to use him as a point forward the way the Thunder use Jalen Williams. He has a smooth shooting stroke and takes high percentage shots. He more than held his own as a 17 year old practicing with the US Olympic team.

He has the size to guard nearly every position and should be an All Defensive player like Kawhi, and KG. On his defense alone, he would likely be a lottery pick. He has the toughness and competitiveness of a guy like KG. His floor is Chambers (4 time All Star) and Williams (the second best player on a title team). His upside is the Hall of Fame.

2. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Dylan Harper-CG/SF-Rutgers

6'6''/213/6’10.50″

19.4 PTS       4.6 REB         4.0 AST         75.0%-FT
Fr./19.3
Hometown: Franklin Lakes, NJ
Current NBA Comp: James Harden/D'Angelo Russell
Old School NBA Comp: Manu Ginobili
ROLE: Starting Combo Guard with Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Size/Toughness

Harper is a strong lefty that can play a both guard spots and is big enough to guard many small forwards. He will remind Spurs fans of a young Manu with his ability to get to the rim at will in a variety of ways. His upside is Harden if given the opportunity to be the primary scorer. If Victor Wembanyama is able to return to All Star form, the Spurs have a chance to compete in the West for the next decade.

3. PHILADELPHIA 76ERS
V.J. Edgecombe-SG-Baylor
6'5''/193/6'7.50''
19.9 PTS       5.6 REB         3.2 AST        2.1 STL
Fr./19.9
Hometown: Bimini, Bahamas
Current NBA Comp: Donovan Mitchell/Bennedict Mathurin
Old School NBA Comp: Eddie Jones/JR Smith
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard with All Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Elite Athletic Ability/Scoring/Defense/Hustle

Edgecombe is a strong guard that plays the game with a fire and toughness that translates to winning. He is older for a one and done player which is perfect as he can give Philly a player that can compete right away. His upside is that of Mitchell and Eddie Jones but early on he will have a role similar to Mathurin on the Pacers or Lu Dort on the Thunder. The 76ers have a championship roster on paper if Joel Embiid can stay healthy. If they fail to meet expectations in 2026 expect them to blow up the entire roster.

4. CHARLOTTE HORNETS
Kon Knueppel-SF/SG-Duke
6'6''/219/6'6.25''
14.4 PTS       4.0 REB         2.7 AST        40.6% 3PT    91.4%-FT
Fr./19.8
Hometown: Milwaukee
Current NBA Comparison: Bojan Bogdanović/Austin Reaves
Old School NBA Comparison: Wally Szczerbiak/Mike Miller
ROLE: Starting Wing Sharpshoooter
BEST TOOLS: Elite Shooting/Basketball IQ

Kon is an elite shooter with the power to play either wing spot. He likely would of been a 20 point per game scorer had he went anywhere other than Duke. He gets to stay in the state of Carolina where Charlotte welcomes his shooting and floor spacing. The Hornets were 28th in three point shooting percentage. Kon is a great fit next to playmaking point guard LaMelo Ball and combo forward Brandon Miller.

5. UTAH JAZZ
Tre Johnson-SG-Texas

6'6''/190/6'10.50''
19.3 PTS       3.1 REB         2.7 AST         39.7% 3PT    87.1%-FT
Fr./19.3
Hometown: Dallas
Current NBA Comp: Tyler Herro/Jordan Poole
Old School NBA Comp: Allan Houston
ROLE: Starting Shooting Guard with All Star Potential
BEST TOOLS: Elite Shooting at every level/Playmaking

Johnson is an elite shooter that can score at every level. The Jazz could go a variety of directions here and Danny Ainge is always looking to trade. If the Jazz stay here, Johnson seems like a very safe pick for a team that needs outside shooting. Keyonte George was great as a rookie. George and Johnson could give Utah a great young backcourt of the future.

6. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Ace Bailey-SF-Rutgers
6'9''/203/7'0.50''
17.6 PTS       7.2 REB       39.7% 3PT    1.3 STL
Fr./18.8
Hometown: Chattanooga, TN
Current NBA Comp: Michael Porter Jr/Kyle Kuzma
Old School NBA Comp: Rudy Gay
ROLE: Starting Combo Forward and number 2/3 scoring option
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Length/Rebounding

Bailey is the most polarizing prospect in this year's draft. His 69.2% free throw percentage in confusing considering he has such a nice stroke. He is good at creating his own shot hence the Kuzma and Gay comparisons. The Wizards value length as they have drafted Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly in the past two drafts. Bailey is a better scorer than both young players and should have the green light from day one.

7. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
Khaman Maluach-C-Duke
7'2''/253/7'6.75''
8.6 PTS       6.6 REB         1.3 BLK
Fr./18.7
Hometown: Kawempe, Uganda
Current NBA Comparison: Rudy Gobert/Jalen Duren
Old School NBA Comparison: DeAndre Jordan
ROLE: Staring Center with All Defense Potential
BEST TOOLS: Elite Length/Size/Defense/Athletic Ability

Maluach is a product of the NBA Academy Africa. He has blossomed into a great prospect with his elite combination of skills. He is the ideal rim protector and lop threat. He was able to showcase his role in one season at Duke where he played alongside Flagg, Kon, Sion James and Tyrese Proctor.

8. BROOKLYN NETS
Derik Queen-PF-Maryland
6'10''/248/7'0.50''
16.5 PTS       9.0 REB         1.1 BLK        1.9 AST
Fr./20.5
Hometown: Baltimore
Current NBA Comparison: Naz Reid/Bobby Portis
Old School NBA Comparison: Elton Brand/Derrick Coleman
ROLE: Staring Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Scoring/Rebounding/Size

Queen was an instant star at Maryland leading them to the Sweet 16 on his game winning buzzer beater. He has an old school game but still has a lot of skills that translate in the modern NBA.

9. TORONTO RAPTORS
Jeremiah Fears-CG-Oklahoma

6'4''/180/6'5.25''
17.3 PTS       4.1 REB         4.1 AST         85.1%-FT
Fr./18.7
Hometown: Joliet, IL
Current NBA Comp: Anfernee Simons/Cole Anthony
Old School NBA Comp: Brandon Knight
ROLE: Starting Combo Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Athletic Ability/Scoring

Fears is an undersized but super quick bucket getter. He went from being ranked 65th in high school to now lottery pick. He can score, create and has a killer mentality. His lack of size will limit his upside to that of a Simons or prime Knight. He would be an ideal fit on the Raptors as they need a scoring guard to play with forwards Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram. Both Barnes and Ingram are proven primary facilitators, therefore Fears can be a non traditional starting point guard.

10. PHOENIX SUNS
Thomas Sorber-C-Georgetown
6'10''/263/7'6''
14.5 PTS       8.5 REB         2.0 BLK        2.4 AST
Fr./18.7
Hometown: Trenton, NJ
Current NBA Comparison: Jonas Valančiūnas/Deandre Ayton
Old School NBA Comparison: Derrick Favors
ROLE: Staring Center
BEST TOOLS: Elite Length/Size/Defense/Passing Big

Sorber is not the athlete that Maluach is but he very well turn out being the better all around player. The Suns have a plethora of scoring wings and have depth at guard. They need a big man that can come in and give them solid minutes. Sorber may not be the flashy pick but he is exactly what the Suns need.

11. PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS
Carter Bryant-CF-Arizona
6'8''/215/6'11.75''
6.5 PTS       4.1 REB         37.1%-3PT        0.9 BLK        0.9 STL
Fr./19.5
Hometown: Riverside, CA
Current NBA Comparison: Aaron Gordon/Trey Murphy
Old School NBA Comparison: Wilson Chandler
ROLE: Staring  Forward, 3 and D role player
BEST TOOLS: Elite Leaping Ability/Defense/Long Range Shooting

Bryant gets the nod over Noa Essengue due to his ability to hit open shots. Portland is building a young core around guards Scoot Henderson, Shaedon Sharpe and big man Donovan Clingan. Bryant is a young athlete that can take his time to develop in Portland.

12. CHICAGO BULLS
Collin Murray Boyles-PF-S Carolina
6'8''/239/7'0.75''
16.8 PTS       9.0 REB         1.3 BLK        1.5 STL        1.9 AST
So./20.0
Hometown: Columbia, SC
Current NBA Comparison: Toumani Camara/Herb Jones
Old School NBA Comparison: Anthony Mason/Paul Millsap
ROLE: Staring Power Forward, with All Defense Potential
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Rebounding/Length/Playmaking

Many have compared Murray-Boyles to Draymond Green but he is no where near that level of facilitator. He is the most versatile defender in this class of anyone not named Cooper Flagg. He can be a very good role player on any team in the 11-16 range. The Bulls need help on defense as they were 27th in points allowed. They also need an upgrade at power forward over Patrick Williams.

13. ATLANTA HAWKS
Egor Demin-PG/SF-Arizona
6'9''/199/6'10.25''
6.5 PTS       3.9 REB         5.5 AST       0.9 STL
Fr./19.3
Hometown: Moscow, Russia
Current NBA Comparison: Josh Giddey/Kyle Anderson
Old School NBA Comparison: Shaun Livingston
ROLE: Second unit playmaker
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/Size/Elite Passer

Demin is the perfect fit for the Hawks that have a ton of guys that need to shoot. Demin projects as the ideal passing big guard that can is not a good shooter. If he can improve his stroke he could be like Livingston, if not he will be a good role player like Giddey.

14. SAN ANTONIO SPURS
Asa Newell-PF/C-Georgia
6'10''/224/6'11.25''
15.4 PTS       6.9 REB         1.0 BLK       0.9 STL
Fr./19.7
Hometown: Destin, FL
Current NBA Comparison: Clint Capela/Derrick Lively
Old School NBA Comparison: Anderson Varejao
ROLE: High Energy Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Rebounding/Athletic Ability/Energy

Newell is a high energy big man that can score on put backs, lobs and has a decent shot. His offensive rebound rate was elite and he can also defend three spots. He would be a great fit in San Antonio next to Wembanyama. He knows how to play his role and has shown an ability to play with other great players when he was on the 2024 Monteverde Academy team with Cooper Flagg and Derik Queen.

15. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Cedric Coward-SG/SF-Washington St
6'6''/213/7'2.25''
17.4 PTS       7.0 REB         3.7 AST         40.0% 3PT    83.9%-FT        1.7 STL
Sr./21.7
Hometown: Destin, FL
Current NBA Comparison: DeAndre Hunter/O.G. Anunoby
Old School NBA Comparison: Doug Christie
ROLE: 3 and D role player
BEST TOOLS: Elite Length/Shooting/Defense

No team values length and versatility more the NBA champions. The Thunder also realize they will only be able to keep one of Lu Dort and Cason Wallace long term. Coward has taken the road less traveled to the NBA. He played Division III then went to Eastern Washington before landing at WSU last season. He fits perfectly in the modern game with his combination of length, shooting and ability to guard multiple positions.
THE RICH GET RICHER HERE.

16. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
Nique Clifford-SG/SF-Colorado St
6'6''/202/6'8''
18.9 PTS       9.6 REB         4.4 AST         37.7% 3PT    77.7%-FT        1.2 STL
Sr./23.3
Hometown: Colorado Springs, CO
Current NBA Comparison: Desmond Bane/Josh Hart
Old School NBA Comparison: Michael Finley
ROLE: 3 and D role player
BEST TOOLS: Rebounding/Shooting/Defense

Clifford gives the Grizzlies a NBA ready player for a team looking to compete right now. Like Coward, he does a little bit of everything. He would play heavy minutes in Memphis from day one.

17. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Jase Richardson-PG-Michigan St
6'2''/178/6'6''
12.1 PTS       9.6 REB         1.9 AST         41.2% 3PT    83.6.7%-FT        1.2 STL
Fr./19.7
Hometown: Denver
Current NBA Comparison: Mike Conley/Cole Anthony
Old School NBA Comparison: Cuttino Mobley
ROLE: High End backup guard
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Quickness/IQ/Toughness

Richardson is not an elite athlete like his father but he is a really good shooter that is developing as a playmaker. He would be an ideal fit in Minnesota as they need a young point guard to pair with All Pro Anthony Edwards.

18. WASHINGTON WIZARDS
Kasparas Jakucionis-PG-Illinois
6'6''/205/6'7.75''
15.0 PTS       5.7 REB         4.7 AST      81.5.7%-FT
Fr./19.0
Hometown: Vilnius, Lithuania
Current NBA Comp: Spencer Dinwiddie/Delon Wright
Old School NBA CompGoran Dragić
ROLE: Starting Point Guard
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking/IQ/Passing/Shooting

Jakucionis knows how to control the game and play at his pace. Washington needs young guards that can create and facilitate. He is a lottery talent, but hislack of athletic ability and elite length likely drop him out of the lottery. This is a great value and fit at this point in the draft.

19. BROOKLYN NETS
Noa Essengue-CF-France
6'10''/200/6'11''
10.7 PTS       5.0 REB         1.2 AST         37.7% 3PT    77.7%-FT        1.2 STL
INT/18.5
Hometown: Orleans, France
Current NBA Comparison: Jonathan Kuminga/Tari Eason
Old School NBA Comparison: Nic Batum
ROLE: High End backup forward with a ton of upside
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Versatility

Essengue is among the youngest players in the draft so it will be best for him to end up in a place like Brooklyn where he can have time to develop. He has the most upside of any player later in the draft if he can develop any time of consistent jump shot.

20. MIAMI HEAT
Walter Clayton Jr-CG-Florida
6'3''/199/6'4''
18.3 PTS       3.7 REB         4.2 AST       38.6%-3PT    87.5%-FT
Sr./22.2
Hometown: Lake Whales, FL
Current NBA Comp: Payton Pritchard/Jalen Brunson
Old School NBA Comp: Ben Gordon
ROLE: 6th/7th Man Instant Offense Scoring Option
BEST TOOLS: Clutch Gene/Shooting/Playmaking

Clayton was the best and most exciting player in March Madness leading Florida to a National Championship. He hit big shot after big shot and his timing for the big moment is unteachable. He really improved as a playmaker in his two years at Florida. He would be the ideal backup to play behind Tyler Herro in Miami.

21. UTAH JAZZ
Liam McNeeley-SF-UConn
6'8''/215/6'8.50''
14.5 PTS       6.0 REB         2.3 AST         31.7% 3PT    86.%-FT
Fr./19.7
Hometown: Richardson, TX
Current NBA Comparison: Corey Kispert/Keegan Murray
Old School NBA Comparison: Andres Nocioni
ROLE: 6th/7th Man or Starting Small Forward
BEST TOOLS: Versatility/Shooting/Rebounding/Toughness

McNeeley fits as the perfect role player in the modern league. He does a bit of everything and has a level of toughness not seen in many young players. He struggled from three last season but he has a smooth stroke and can easily become a good long range shooter in time.

22. BROOKLYN NETS
Nolan Traore-PG-France
6'5''/175/6'8''
12.3 PTS       1.9 REB         4.7 AST
INT/19.1
Hometown: Chennevières-sur-Marne, France
Current NBA Comparison: Dejounte Murray/Andrew Nembhard
Old School NBA Comparison: George Hill
ROLE: Backup Point Guard
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Playmaking/Quickness

Traore has a great combination of size, speed and skill for the point guard position. He is very inconsistent though. At times he looks like he is on the John Wall/Russell Westbrook level and then looks like someone that is a borderline rotation player. I have the Nets picking both young French players in Noa and Nolan.

23. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS
Danny Wolf-C/PF-Michigan
7'0''/252/7'2.25''
13.2 PTS       9.7 REB         3.6 AST         1.4 BLK
Jr./21.1
Hometown: Glencoe, IL
Current NBA Comparison: Isaiah Hartenstein
Old School NBA Comparison: Boris Diaw/Hedo Türkoğlu
ROLE: Second Unit Point Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Playmaking Big/Rebounding/Shooting

Wolf has a very unique game but he has value for a team looking for playmaking and shooting. He could have very similar value to Hartenstein in OKC with the upside of prime Boris or Hedo.

24. OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Rasheer Fleming-PF-Saint Joseph's
6'9''/232/7'5.25''
14.7 PTS       8.5 REB        39.0% 3PT    74.3%-FT        1.2 STL
Jr./20.9
Hometown: Camden, NJ
Current NBA Comparison: PJ Washington/Pascal Siakim
Old School NBA Comparison: Drew Gooden
ROLE: High End Role Player with Upside
BEST TOOLS: Elite Length/Rebounding/Shooting

As stated above, no team values length more than the Thunder. If there is a player drafted in the late first round with a chance to turn into a Pascal Siakim it is Fleming.

25. ORLANDO MAGIC
Joan Beringer-C-France
6'11''/236/7'3''
5.4 PTS       4.9 REB         1.4 BLK        37.7% 3PT    77.7%-FT        1.2 STL
INT/18.6
Hometown: Strasbourg, France
Current NBA Comparison: Jarrett Allen
Old School NBA Comparison: Nerlens Noel
ROLE: High Energy Athletic Big Man
BEST TOOLS: Athletic Ability/Length/Defense

Beringer has lottery buzz but lacks the polish and size of the other big man prospects. He could develop into a very nice backup. The Magic need depth up front behind starting center Wendell Carter.

26. BROOKLYN NETS
Will Riley-SF-Illinois
6'9''/186/6'8.75''
12.6 PTS       4.1 REB          32.6% 3PT
Fr./19.3
Hometown: Kitchener, ON
Current NBA Comparison: Devin Vassell
Old School NBA Comparison: Austin Daye
ROLE: 3 and D role player
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Playmaking

Riley can has a good combination of skills but is still putting it all together. He is another solid prospect that the Nets can develop.

27. BROOKLYN NETS
Chaz Lanier-SG-Tennessee
6'5''/206/6'8.75''
18.0 PTS       3.9 REB          39.5% 3PT
Sr./23.5
Hometown: Kitchener, ON
Current NBA Comparison: Kentavious Caldwell Pope/Malik Beasley
Old School NBA Comparison: Mike Dunleavy
ROLE: 3 and D role player
BEST TOOLS: Long Range Shooting/IQ/Toughness

Finally the Nets draft a player that is NBA ready. Lanier will become the first player ever that played college at the University of North Florida to be drafted. He went from UNF to All SEC at Tennessee. He is an elite shooter

28. BOSTON CELTICS
Ryan Kalkbrenner-C-Creighton
7'2''/257/7'6''
19.2 PTS       8.7 REB         2.7 BLK         1.5 AST
Sr./23.4
Hometown: Kawempe, Uganda
Current NBA Comparison: Walker Kessler
Old School NBA Comparison: Theo Ratliff
ROLE: Center with All Defense Potential
BEST TOOLS: Elite Length/Elite Shot Blocking

Goodbye Porzingas and hello Kalkbrenner. The Celtics are transitioning and need more length up front. Kalkbrenner was the 4 Time Big East Defensive Player of the year. He isn't flashy but get the job done as a rim protector that can also hit an open shot

29. PHOENIX SUNS
Maxime Raynaud-C-Stanford
7'1''/237/7'1.25''
20.2 PTS       10.6 REB         1.4 BLK        1.7 AST
Sr./22.2
Hometown: Paris, France
Current NBA Comparison: Kelly Olynyk
Old School NBA Comparison: Raef LaFrentz/Mike Muscala
ROLE: Good Backup Center
BEST TOOLS: Shooting/Rebounding

Raynaud has a very nice skill set for the league. He can score and rebound. He is NBA ready and has improved in every year while at Stanford.

30. LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS
Alijah Martin-SG-Florida
6'3''/208/6'7.50''
14.4 PTS       4.5 REB         1.5 STL       35.0%-3PT
Sr./23.5
Hometown: Summit, MS
Current NBA Comp: Lu Dort
Old School NBA Comp: Raja Bell
ROLE: Lockdown Defender
BEST TOOLS: Defense/Power/Athletic Ability/Toughness

In my 2019 mock I had Lu Dort going at the end of the first round. I was shocked when he went undrafted. Like Dort, Martin faces an uphill battle to make a NBA rotation. Both guys are built like linebackers. Martin is a tough player that should be able to carve out a nice role in the league.
