2025 NFL DRAFT: Position Breakdown: OFFENSIVE LINE

2025 OFFENSIVE LINE PROSPECTS

Offensive line play in the NFL is often the difference between winning and losing. The Philadelphia Eagles rode their NFL best offensive line to a Super Bowl. They were led by All Pro tackles Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. They also had Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson and center Cam Jurgens. Other playoff teams that were led by great offensive line play included Baltimore, Detroit, Buffalo, Denver and a very improved Tampa Bay line.

Left Tackle remains the premium position on the line. However, the pay gap between left tackles, elite right tackles and guards is closing. This year’s crop of offensive line prospects has a nice mix of premium prospects and depth. Four tackles look to be first round locks while three to four others are on the first round borderline. Several teams picking high have major needs on the offensive line.

Teams with Multiple Needs

NEW ENLAND PATRIOTS: The Patriots have the 4th pick. If Travis Hunter is off the board, they will most likely take a left tackle. The Patriots had the worst tackle play in the NFL last season. 2024 third round pick Caedan Wallace struggled as a rookie. The other tackles are backups at best. They brought in veterans Morgan Moses at right tackle and Garrett Bradbury at center. However, neither is a long-term option in New England.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Jacksonville picks one spot after New England, and they could also draft an offensive lineman. They finally traded Cam Robinson away last season. They signed guard Patrick Mekari this offseason. Protecting Trevor Lawrence is a high priority this season as the franchise quarterback missed seven games due to injury last season.

CINCINNATI BENGALS: The Bengals have wisely invested big money into All Pro quarterback Joe Burrow, All Pro receiver Ja'Marr Chase and stud receiver Tee Higgins. Left tackle Orlando Brown is the only big money player on the offensive line, and he has been average at best. 2024 first round pick Amarius Mims looks to be the long-term answer at right tackle. However, upgrades are needed at most of the other spots.

MIAMI DOLPHINS: The retirement of left Tackle Terron Armstead leaves a huge void. 2024 second round pick Patrick Paul is the starter now. Right Tackle Austin Jackson and center Aaron Brewer are solid starters. But one wonders if newly singed James Daniels is the answer at guard.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: Charles Cross solidified himself as their franchise left tackle last season. The rest of the line is filled with young and unproven players. Seattle has a ton of draft capital with five picks in the first three rounds. General manager John Schneider is known for moving up and down the board.

ATLANTA FALCONS: Center

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: Left Guard

NEW YORK JETS: Right Tackle

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Left Guard

PROSPECTS

Will Campbell-OT-LSU
6'6"/319/77.38” Wingspan

NFL Comp: Andrew Whitworth/Braden Smith
PFF Grade: 72.6
Accolades: 2024 1st Team All-American, 1st Team All SEC
Starts: 38 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left or Right Tackle
Campbell has started since his True Freshman season at LSU. He has the perfect blend of size, power, toughness and technique. He is an elite pass protector and a physical run blocker. His less-than-ideal wingspan is the main question mark on his transition to the NFL. He can become an All Pro like another fellow LSU alum Andrew Whitworth. His floor is that of a franchise starting right tackle like Braden Smith.

Armand Membou-OT-Missouri

6'4"/332/82.00” Wingspan/32 reps/4.91 forty

NFL Comp: Willie Anderson/Jason Peters
PFF Grade: 90.4
Accolades: 2024 2nd Team All SEC
Starts: 30 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left or Right Tackle
Membou has an elite combination of length, power and athleticism have vaulted him up draft boards. His body control and quickness off the snap are elite. His most impressive stat is that he only allowed 3 career sacks going up against elite SEC competition. His elite physical traits and style of play make him comparable to Anderson and Peters who were both All Pros. Anderson was the best right tackle of his generation.

Kelvin Banks Jr.-OT-Texas
6'5"/315/84.38” Wingspan

NFL Comp: Zack Martin/Duane Brown
PFF Grade: 86.2
Accolades: 2024 Outland trophy Winner, 1st Team All-American, 1st Team All SEC
Starts: 42 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Tackle or Guard
Like Membou and Campbell, Banks is a great athlete that is battle tested. He also has the same size limitations as well. At this point, he is a better run blocker than pass protector. This is why many scouts see him taking the Martin path from college left tackle to All Pro guard. He could also turn into a top tier tackle like Brown was in his prime. Brown was among the best run blockers in the league for many years.

Josh Simmons-OT-Ohio St
6'5"/317/82.00” Wingspan

NFL Comp:  Laremy Tunsil/Taylor Moton
PFF Grade: 74.4
Starts: 32, 19 at Left Tackle, 13 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left or Right Tackle
Simmons missed the final 10 games of the season with a torn patellar tendon. He is very athletic and light-footed. His agility makes him the perfect fit in a zone blocking scheme. If he recovers fully, he should be a starter in the league for a long time. He could end up being the best lineman drafted from this class.

Tyler Booker-G-Alabama
6'5"/321/83.50” Wingspan

NFL Comp: Trey Smith/Mike Iupati
PFF Grade: 66.5
Accolades: 2nd Team All-American, 1st Team All SEC
Starts: 33, 25 at Left Guard 1 at Left Tackle, 1 at Right Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Left Tackle
Booker is the highest rated guard in the draft class. He is a strong run blocker and adequate in pass protection. He has an ideal arm length for an inside lineman. He is on the first-round border. Both the Ravens and Chiefs need a plug and play starter at guard. Booker could be the missing piece for a title team.

Grey Zabel-OT-North Dakota St

6'6"/312/77.25” Wingspan/26 reps

NFL Comp: Luke Goedeke/Robert Hunt
PFF Grade: 90.4
Accolades: 2024 1st Team FCS All-American
Starts: 38, 17 at Right Tackle, 16 at Left Tackle, 5 at Left Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Guard or Right Tackle
Zabel brings size, toughness and versatility to the NFL team that drafts him. He is a very powerful run blocker that would be a perfect fit at right tackle or inside at guard. He compares well with two other small school prospects in Goedeke and Hunt. Goedeke is a right tackle and Hunt is a guard. Both are high end starters that play with the same level of physicality.

Josh Conerly-OT-Oregon

6'4"/311/82.25” Wingspan

NFL Comp: Russell Okung/Dion Dawkins
PFF Grade: 78.3
Accolades: 2024 3rd Team All-American, 1st Team All Big Ten
Starts: 28 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Left Tackle
Connerly was the highest rated offensive lineman coming out of high school in 2022. He started the past two seasons at left tackle for the Ducks. He may lack the ideal height and length of a left tackle, but he has the skill set. He is an elite pass protector and has very quick feet. He has outstanding technique that makes up for his lack of size.

Donovan Jackson-G/RT-Ohio St

6'4"/315/83.75” Wingspan

NFL Comp: Kevin Zeitler/Trai Turner
PFF Grade: 71.8
Accolades: 2024 3rd Team All-American
Starts: 40, 31 at Left Guard, 9 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Guard
Jackson was a highly rated offensive lineman coming out of high school in 2021. He started for three years at guard and replaced Josh Simmons at left tackle when he was injured. He is a proven leader and high intangible guy. He is not the most athletic or biggest player, but he is a very safe pick in the second round. His best traits are his technique and feet.

Aireontae Ersery-OT-Minnesota

6'6"/331/80.88” Wingspan/25 reps

NFL Comp: Morgan Moses/Daryl Williams
PFF Grade: 77.5
Accolades: 2024 3rd Team All-American, 1st Team All Big Ten
Starts: 37 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle
Ersery’s combination of size, power and athleticism is elite. He has years of experience starting in the Big Ten where he went up against many skilled pass rushers. He may be best used on the right side of the line at the next level. Like Moses and Williams he should be a quality starter at right tackle.

Jonah Savaiinaea-RT/G-Arizona
6'4"/324/82.25” Wingspan/4.95

NFL Comp: Tyler Smith/ Abraham Lucas
PFF Grade: 75.9
Starts: 36, 16 at Right Tackle, 15 at Right Guard, 5 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Guard or Swing Tackle
Savaiinaea’s athletic and size profile are similar to Smith and Lucas. Smith has turned into an elite left guard while Lucas has battled injuries and inconsistent play at right tackle. Savaiinea has great size and power for a guard. He has enough length to play tackle as well. He should be a good value pick on day two of the draft.

Marcus Mbow-G/RT-Purdue
6'4"/303/80.00” Wingspan

NFL Comp: AJ Cann/Ben Powers
PFF Grade: 73.0
Starts: 32, 20 at Right Guard, 12 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Guard or Swing Tackle
Mbow is undersized to play tackle but has the perfect combination of quickness, length and intelligence. He should be a solid player in the league for a long time. He may fit best at guard at the next level, he could also tun into a good swing tackle.

Cameron Williams-OT-Texas
6'6"/317/84.50” Wingspan

NFL Comp: Orlando Franklin/Germain Ifedi
PFF Grade: 67.4
Accolades: 2023 1st Team All-American
Starts:16 at Right tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle or Swing Tackle
Williams has the raw size and tools to be a starting right tackle in the league. He only started one full season at Texas and struggled with elite pass rushers. A team will need to be patient with his development, but he has as much upside as any lineman after the first round.

Jared Wilson-C/G-Georgia
6’3”/310/80.00” Wingspan/4.84
NFL Comparison: Erik McCoy/Quinn Meinerz
PFF Grade: 79.6
Accolades: 2nd team All SEC
Starts: 12 at Center
Ideal Role: Starting Center
Wilson is the best center prospect in the draft due to his elite athletic traits. He lacks experience as he only started one year at Georgia. His athletic profile is very similar to McCoy and Meinerz. Wilson is not a plug and play starting center like Zach Frazier or Graham Barton last year. But he has the tools to contribute at guard immediately.

Tate Ratledge-G-Georgia
6’7”/308/79.25” Wingspan/4.97
NFL Comparison: Will Fries/Joe Thuney
PFF Grade: 74.4
Accolades: 2023 2nd Team All-American, 2024 3rd Team All-American, 1st Team All SEC
Starts: 36 at Right Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Guard
Ratledge has the coolest mullet on this side of Billy Ray Cyrus. He is an experienced three-year starter and was battle tested in the SEC. He has a good combination of quickness, size and technique.  He has the tools to be an elite pass blocker and solid run blocker. He has nearly identical size and length to Fries and a similar athletic profile to Thuney. Ratledge can be a steal in the third round.

Wyatt Milum-G/RT-West Virginia
6’7”/313/79.50” Wingspan
NFL Comparison: Colton McKivitz/Andrus Peat
PFF Grade: 91.0
Accolades:2024 2nd Team All-American, First-team All-Big 12
Starts: 43, 35 at Left Tackle 8 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Guard or Swing Tackle
Milum is as experienced as they come in this year’s class. He has experience at both tackle spots but may be best used at guard at the next level. He is a physical downhill blocker in the running game. His size and skill set compare favorably to another West Virginia alum in McKivitz. He is a safe high floor prospect in the third round.

Ozzy Trapilo-OT-Boston College
6’8”/313/81.00” Wingspan
NFL Comparison: Mike McGlinchey/Sam Young
PFF Grade: 76.8
Accolades: 1st Team All-ACC
Starts: 36, 24 at Right Tackle, 12 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle or Swing Tackle
Trapilo is a tall tackle prospect that found his home the past two seasons on the right side of the line. He knows how to use his height and length in pass protection. He needs to improve as a run blocker and may need to add weight if he wants to be a starter.

Charles Grant-OT-William & Mary

6'5"/311/81.88” Wingspan
NFL Comp:  Braxton Jones/Trey Pipkins
PFF Grade: 91.2
Accolades: 2024 1st Team FCS All-American
Starts: 41 at Left Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right or Left Tackle
Grant is a wrestler turned football player. He dominated FCS competition and has great technique for someone who is new to the game of football. There are plenty of examples of small school guys that became starting offensive tackles from Terron Armstead to Jones to Pipkins. Grant hopes to be the next guy added to this list.

Anthony Belton-G/RT-NC St

6'6"/336/83.13”
NFL Comp: Mekhi Becton/Marcus Cannon
PFF Grade: 73.6
Starts: 32 at Left Tackle, 1 at Right Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Guard or Right Tackle
Belton has taken a long road to the NFL with two years at Georgia Military Academy before landing in Raleigh. He played four years at NC St, starting the last three. Belton is a massive man with an elite combination of length and power. He could turn into a starter at right tackle but a move inside may serve him best.

Emery Jones Jr.-RT/G-LSU

6'5"/315/81.50” Wingspan/33 reps
NFL Comp:  Austin Jackson/ Rodger Saffold
PFF Grade: 61.7
Accolades: 2023 1st Team All-American
Starts: 36 at Right Tackle
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle or Guard
Jones started opposite Will Campbell the past three seasons at LSU. Like many in the class, he is probably better suited to play guard at the next level. He has a great combination of power and length. He could turn into a solid starting tackle but he has elite upside as a guard.

Jalen Rivers-RT/G-Miami

6'6"/319/83.88” Wingspan
NFL Comp:  Terence Steele/Marcus Gilbert
PFF Grade: 70.7
Starts: 31, 21 at Left Tackle, 10 at Left Guard
Ideal Role: Starting Right Tackle or Guard
Rivers is an elite pass blocker with great length. He is a very sound technical player that lacks elite athletic ability. He also comes with injury concerns. He looked like a first round lock in 2023 playing left tackle. He also has the versatility to play most spots on the line.
